Shipping costs question

I tried searching the forums for this, but couldn't find an answer, so:

As I just got the 15% off coupon code from the survey, I thought to myself: this would be a great time to get my free dvd's for Strong Bad and W&G, and maybe I'll also grab a shirt and Surfin' the Highway.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that adding either the Max and crossbones shirt or Surfin' the Highway to my cart more than doubled the shipping costs. I mean, I can understand that a 200 page comic book costs a lot to ship, but a t-shirt?

Is this some kind of an error with the store, that I can get 2 dvd's (the shipping cost of which is by all logic more than that of a single t-shirt) shipped for $16, but I have to pay $35 for shipping on the 2 dvd's + a shirt?

Same here. Isn't 17 dollars a bit too much for a dvd? Surely there are cheaper shipping options to Great Britain?

I don't believe shipping to the UK is that expensive. How much does a dvd case weight anyway?

I actually don't mind the shipping costs for the DVDs (even if it is a bit high as well). I am just surprised of the shipping price of the shirt, which basically doubles the price of the order (and gets the total price quite close to the sum where I need to start paying taxes & duty on the items).

Should've ordered when they were offering free shipping, but being used to us Europeans always getting the shaft, I though that offer only applied to U.S. orders.

It is a little much, for sure. On January 4, 2010 there was a shipping increase. USPS Priority went up 3.3% while competitors like FedEX and UPS went up by 6%. And, recently ttg has requested tracking information as some of our International packages get lost in transit and that costs money.

I'll look into more reasonable prices for International shipments going forward.

    Cheers,
    bonnie

Tomorrow International shipping costs should go down. Please let me know, provided you order tomorrow, what happens. You can ping me with a pm or through support@telltalegames.com.

I am looking forward to this. Another Example are the shipping costs for 3 DVDs, in this example Strong Bad Emails DVD #6 to Germany.

1 DVD $15.75 - USPS Priority Mail International
2 DVDs $15.90 - USPS Priority Mail International
3 DVDs $32.05 - USPS Priority Mail International

I hope that goes down too, because I have a bunch of DVDs waiting for me.

    Hi International peeps,
Did any of you try to order your dvd's today? Did the price change to a more reasonable rate? Let me know either way.

    Cheers,
    bonnie

Got a friend in the UK who says cost remains the same from yesterday.

I've just had a quick look, using the Wallace & Gromit collector's DVD and it came up with about $15 for shipping to the UK which is a bit excessive for a single DVD considering I put an order in November for the W&G DVD, TMI badge set, TMI signed poster & Surfin' the Highway (paperback) with shipping at $23 odd. That same order now would cost me $38. I don't know if the fact that I'm not using the free collector's DVD option (as I've already ordered it) to test the shipping cost makes any difference.

Have just found this thread now - linked from a thread I started in General chat expressing my disappointment at the shipping charges :

"$18 to ship to Ireland is more than a bit ridiculous for one DVD... have paid it as I want the DVD but I think you are fleecing us somewhat. Very disappointed.
    :(
    "

Fair enough there was a free shipping offer - spend $50 to get it - but I didn't want anything other than the dvd which is theoretically free with my season purchase.
I have had many DVDs shipped from the US and never paid such a high shipping charge. I know I didn't have to pay - but I did want the DVD - had been looking forward to it since ordering my package. To be honest, this has really soured the experience, and the attitude of some of the replies to my original post hasn't helped.
