ToMI soundtrack CDs?

Duh, how come there's no Tales of Monkey Island soundtack cds in the store? :)

I really appreciated both Sam & Max releases.

I recall that the Sam & Max soundtracks came out around the same time as the DVDs started shipping, so wait for then. It'll likely be there eventually.

    I would buy those instantly.

Though, preferrably with live instruments. At least make them sound like they're live instruments. None of that compressed stuff.

    Live instruments?

I think what you mean is that you want the sound to be at a higher bitrate than what we hear ingame. Same music, but higher quality output.

I'm sure it will sound wonderfully MI, so I'll take it however they make it (so long as they don't put DRM on the discs, I hate DRM on audio CDs)

No, I'm sure he means live instruments.

    Though it's highly unlikely they'd re-record the soundtrack ;)

    I agree.

Hence why I said, "Make them sound like live instruments".

LucasArts used live instruments to re-record SMI:SE, yet I prefer the original CD audio version of the SMI music.

That's because the team that recorded the SOMI SE tracks didn't consult the original composers, so the tracks sort of missed the point, yes sounded better, but felt like something was missing that Tales has with it's score, sort of continuity of sound? If that makes sense.

You know, they've announced the deluxe edition and various forms of MI goodies, but nothing on the soundtrack. I don't suppose anyone official could comment on whether or not a soundtrack release is imminent (like, say, in the next 18 days)?

I'm in the same boat as Brainiac - my cart's got some goodies in there at the moment, but a soundtrack would be the icing on the cake... :)

Aye, I want a soundtrack too! If its coming, I'd rather be able to order it now, otherwise I have to wait until the Devil's Playhouse DVD is released so I can bunch it all up for shipping. Import costs aren't cheap, you know.

It's all synthesized. I mean, it wasn't bad or anything, but they didn't have a huge budget for the music.

C'mon, give us the soundtrack already!

Sadly none of the TellTale members will at least say anything about this...

Maybe they have something special in mind. Like a completely rerecorded and remixed version with real instruments?

    Maybe they're going on tour.

What makes you think that? The music being MIDI based wasn't due to budget, it was down to the Wii's Software Limits, they had to pack as much as they could into the space and the design was in favour of MIDI based music otherwise it just couldn't be done!

Yeah ... I LOVE the music in ToMI. Land is just a spectacular composer. I understand if it was deemed the wisest course to tap the Wii market ... but oh man, if only the music had sounded as fantastically real as it does in "Wallace & Gromit"! That would've been pure bliss. So I can't help but resent the Wii a little for that...

I still crave a ToMI soundtrack, though, even if it's just the MIDI-based stuff as heard in the game! :)

I'll put in another vote for the soundtrack being available before that whole free shipping deal ends... I would like that.

I distinctly remember reading somewhere it was indeed due to budget reasons, as well as other factors.

i dont think anyone needs to worry,im sure they'll bring out the Soundtrack eventually,Telltales do read the posts and take these things in account, and plus a Soundtrack CD is more likely to happen then a talking Pyrite parrot, but if they do bring a guybrush figurine and Soundtrack before free shipping date ends, then id love that alot...otherwise ill have to wait for another offer like that, cause i still need to get the Mug and tshirt and poster, and badges...got the other goodies on order

If they where to put the soundtracks from the game on a cd, they will have to re-do them a little, most of the tracks are only about 1:30 mins long and are just repeated in the game. So they would need to extend them, with some nice attachments to them.

But in any case I would buy it no matter what, the intro track is just awesome :)

That's typically what happens in a standard video game soundtrack CD. Since most tracks in a game are designed to loop, an album typically plays the tracks, loops each as normal once, then loops again and immediately starts to fade out. Obviously, for tracks with a defined ending, this is unnecessary.

At Quest Studios, Tom actually adds endings to songs that don't have any for the Sierra soundtrack CDs.

Most of the "stingers" work VERY well to give proper endings to tracks that are designed to loop. It doesn't cover every cue, obviously, but it wraps up many of them nicely.
