Well, I really like the Monkey Island 2 rendition of the theme, the Largo song, The Spinner Cay song, and the barbery coast theme.

I thought I might just share this with those of you that haven't seen it. It's not mine, I just found it while surfing the tubes (not literally surfing tubes).

    EDIT: The original rock version

Off the top of my head, my favorites are Kate Capsize's Ship/Falling off the Cliff and Jojo the Monkey. And of course, the opening theme still leaves me in awe every time I hear it, particularly the Curse version.

Also, this accordion version of The Barbery Coast is awesome beyond words.

Oh, and I almost forgot one: the Curse difficulty select music.

I remember really liking the theme to the LUA bar in escape... What the heck is LUA?

    A scripting language used in EMI's GrimE-Engine.

I think lua has something to do with the programming of Escape.
EDIT: Damn, beat me to it.
  • edited March 2010
I knew this... cos SCUMM was the programming used before...
I put it in because it was what Guybrush says when he sees the bar. Of course, he may have said something totally different, so it could be a more heavily disguised reference than I'd thought ;)

The main theme and the LeChuck theme are some of my series crossing favorites. Game specifically, though...

Secret: Melee Island, Ghost Ship Shuffle, Guybrush + Elaine
Revenge: Woodtick (One of my absolute favorites in the series!) Largo, Governor Phatt's Theme
Curse: All of it. This game has one of the most incredible soundtracks of all time, IMHO.
    Escape: The new Scumm bar
Tales: DeSinge, Club 41, the end credits of ch. 4
  • edited March 2010
My favorite is definitely the main theme, I really like the ToMI verson of it (although they're all great!)

The SCUMM Bar and LeChuck's theme are always fun to listen to as well :)

I notice how no one ever mentions liking the SMI:SE versions of music (including myself, since I especially dislike the SE version of LeChuck's theme)

The thing with Special Edition, may just be me, but it feels like it's missing continuity, I don't know what it is that Land does, but when the music in Tales has that feeling too, it's just something about his style that was lost when the new team re-recorded the tracks!

    Okay, time to wax fanboy.

SMI: Main theme (always loved how they worked the Lucasfilm logo into it), SCUMM Bar (especially the SE's), Guybrush and Elaine (on the docks), LeChuck's final theme, Melee overview, the Journey.

MI2: Main theme (again), Stan's theme, Woodtick, Voodoo Lady, LeChuck's voodoo doll theme, Phatt Island, Jail, Captain Kate + sinking, the Underground Tunnels, and Captain Dread's.

CMI: Main theme (again), Murray's Introduction, Puerto Pollo, Plunder Island, Barbery Coast, Fighting With Rottingham, the part where Van Helgen rocks out (it's so ridiculous it's hilarious), the Jazzy Voodoo Lady theme, Danjer Cove, LeChuck's stories, the Goodsoup Family Crypt, and, of course, "A Pirate I Was Meant to Be".

EMI: Prosthesis shop, the wood place, Knuttin Atoll, Melee Town, the SCUMM Bar theme.

Tales: The opening on the ship, Flotsam (especially near the Narwhal), DeSinge (lab + talking), Spinner Cay, Roe Island, the ship theme (when you're looking at the map), McGillicutty's theme (especially when he's on the ship), LeChuck's happy theme, the part where Morgan has a sword up on Winslow's throat, Morgan's sad theme, manatee talking, all of DeCava's, the manatee's mouth, reviving Morgan, the part where the mutineers chase you (it's appropriately wacky), interrogating the mutineers, Flotsam at night, the part where DeSinge says "Oh Sreepwood, you have no idea of the value of that which courses through your body", the jungle at night, the end of chapter four, the swordfight area in the land of the dead, the thief area, the crossroads, the final battle, especially when Guybrush throws his shred of life into the portal (the build-up in the music is incredible), and the best of them all, the "ship at sea"/"ship at dock slow"/"ship at dock fast" themes (they were used in the Season trailer).

In SOMI my favourite themes are Main theme, the epic legendary Scumm Bar and the Monkey Island (on the island) Theme.

In LeChuck's Revenge i love EVERY theme. I've in my heart woodtick (inside Wally's house) and Phatt Island's Jail. But i really lova all of it, without distinction.
The best is in "Evil Theme", of LeChuck, Largo, and Underground Tunnel.

In Curse my favourite are Puerto pollo, Duel with Rottingham and Rollercoaster of Death. Of course "A pirate i was meant to be".

In EFMI i hate almost themes, with exception to Scumm Bar.

In Tales i love the first Lechuck Theme, and all Themes on Rise of Pirate God. I really Like the theme of De Singe.

    Sure, if he's into that.

    SCUMM BAAAAAR forever!!!!
  • edited April 2010
Not played the first 3 so I can't say anything about those.

In Escape I like a lot, but I really like the first one where you are tied to the mast.

In ToMI the Opening theme, Guybrush vs. Hand, DaCava's Upset and Honeymoon Quiz theme and LeChuck vs. Guybrush (Final Battle) are my top favorites, but it's so hard to pick just a few, Michael Land have really done an amazing job in ToMI.
  • edited April 2010
Melee Forest, Following the Shopkeeper, SMI theme, Voodoo Lady SMI, MI2 Dinky Island themes (pretty much all of them), Voodoo Lady MI2, Woodtick, Barbery Coast, Puerto Pollo (or however you spell that stupid word), Voodoo Lady TMI, among others. Only ones that come to mind right now.

I gotta say I don't know how people can prefer the MI2 opening theme to all the others. It's slowed down, not very interesting, and a little dull. It's not bad, but it's not that good.

    SMI - ghost ship theme

LCR - Largo's theme, underground tunnels

CMI - "A Pirate I was Meant to Be", Barbary Coast theme, all the music in the roller coaster (though I realise they are just remakes of LeChuck's theme!)

EMI - the Lua Bar (actually a remake of the bigfoot party tune from Hit The Road!)

TMI - Spinner Cay theme, human LeChuck, court room theme

In general: LeChuck's theme (especially SMI and CMI), Stan's theme (especially EMI) and the MI title music (especially LCR)
  • edited April 2010
The TMI courtroom theme is the same as the jail theme from MI2.
  • edited April 2010
Ah yes, there's that one too :)

Another piece of music I just remembered that I really like is Kate Capsize's theme. Which incidentally is yet another one that's recycled in CMI and TMI (don't know if it appears anywhere in EMI as well, but you get the idea).

    Where is it in CMI?

    On Skull Island,
when Guybrush is falling off the cliff.
It's only for a short time though.

I particularly like "Jazzy Voodoo in the Swamp" from Curse. Does anybody here know any artists that share this style of music? Because I love it, the twangy guitar tone, the bass line and prettymuch the whole cool, relaxed vibe of it. But unfortunately one 1:35 minute song isn't really enough to satisfy, so if anybody could recommend any artists or bands that sound like this, then please do so.

All the best themes came from the first game:

    Main Theme
    LeChuck Theme
    Voodoo Theme
    Guybrush and Elaine Theme

The Scummbar Theme and Ghost Ship themes are great also.

Everything in CMI. Seriously, EVERYTHING. CMI wins the prize for best soundtrack and music quality in my opinion. Everything else since CMI pretty much sounds like it was all done on the computer as opposed to having live instruments. Anyway, I think my favorite of the CMI songs would have to be Tarred and Feathered. (at least it was originally called "Tarred and Feathered" when I first downloaded it. . now it's "The Sea Cucumber."

HOWEVER, MI2 runs a very close second in the soundtrack department. My favorites from MI2 are Woodtick's theme, and the part of the crypt where you bring Rapp Scallion back to life (near the end of the MP3)

Although I really don't like EMI, I did like this song, the one where you're on the clifftop on Monkey Island hurling boulders, ie: Boulder Machinery.

The one song I really loved from ToMI was in Chapter 5--it was the song that played when you stepped into the jungle clearing with the dead seagull. Seriously, I go there, pause the game and just sit there listening to the music for heady lengths of time. Sadly, there's no MP3 of it yet that I can find.

Finally, let's see. . my favorite MI1 song is, typically, The Scumm Bar theme. :)
  • edited May 2010
SMI - LeChuck's theme here is still my favorite rendition of the theme. I also liked the SCUMM BAR theme.

LCR - I can't easily pick a favorite from this game. It's my favorite video game soundtrack of all time, but I'll give standout mentions to the Diving theme, Woodtick, Captain Dread, Largo, Underground Tunnels, and the main theme.

CMI - The main theme which is also my favorite rendition of the theme song ever, A Pirate I was Meant to Be, Sea Cucumber, Falling off the Cliff, Rollercoaster of Death, and several others I can't think of off the top of my head.

EMI - None, really, since I haven't finished the game yet.

TMI - Crossroads, Human LeChuck, Diving, DeSinge, Flotsam, Club 41, and God LeChuck.
  • edited May 2010
Oh, I have to say I also really liked the rendition of Guybrush and Elaine's theme in ToMI, especially at the very end. It sounded a lot more dramatic and heartfelt. :)
  • edited May 2010
Guybrush & Elaine's theme is actually the theme of the Sea Monkey from SMI. I was always confused why they used that theme for Guybrush and Elaine afterwards...
  • edited May 2010
The Introduction music to SMI. So much nostalgia there, I can't help loving that twinkling sound in the beginning. Also, Guybrush and Elaine's theme from SMI. So sappy, but I love it anyway.

I really like the Rhyming song from CMI that Haggis and the crew sings also.

But honestly, all the music of games 1-3 and Tales is amazing. It is not easy to create catchy melodies, and yet there are so many here.

MI2 has my favourite music of all the games and I think my favourites are Kate Capsize/Diving Underwater, Governor Phatt and the music that plays during the largo-stabbing theme and through into the lechuck/voodoo lady mashup in the ensuing conversation.

In MI1 I always had a soft spot for the Ghost Ship Shuffle, even though it was such a short loop, but the SE made it even better. By the way, what's with the MI1:SE soundtrack negativity in this thread? I know there was a lot of disagreement about the SE but I thought the brilliance of the soundtrack was at least something that the vast majority of people agreed on.

Anyway, MI3's soundtrack is great but doesn't have any particular standouts in my mind. I guess the music during the finale and the various voodoo lady interior/exterior musics count.

In MI4 I quite liked the the Palace of Prostheses and some of the Lucre Island stuff.

In Tales all of the Chapter 5 music is definitely my favourite.

I have always thought that the Scabb Island Map was simply one of the best pieces of music in any game. Scabb Island Map I dunno it has a certain something that I did not find anywhere. And of course the tunnels of the ending of MI2!!!
