Movie homage in Culture Shock?

So I'm replaying Culture Shock and as I was going through the driving part, I noticed the car was going underneath the train tracks at times (that's what it looked like to me).

It reminded me of the car chase scene in The French Connection and I was wondering if that was an inspiration?

    I just think of the city of Chicago and "The El," their elevated train system.

    As far as I know, The French Connection was mentioned more than once when that part of the game was being built.
