Sorry but what do you mean by an "FTP"?

    Probably FPS

Thanks for pointing out my obvious mistakes.

Help me to improve in my second languaje. Well, this is not really a case, but anyway, if I commit any mistake, be free to become a grammar nazi and tell me. I need that.

    First: "language."

Second: FTP = File Transfer Protocol ; FPS = First-Person Shooter.

They (sort of) explain each class and what they do. But mostly they explain the personality and aesthetic of the game. Again, blatantly not for everyone :)
Oh, I know the classes, the aesthetic and the personality. I am not completely ignorant in the FPS ways.
Just a little surprised that it worked so fast with so many bazookas firing all at each other, like a UT rocketlauncher. Can't honestly see a med do much work in those conditions. But maybe it was just the map.

    As for avistew:
If you can switch off gore in the menu it's an option.
If a fan made a script that turns off the gore-effects it's a mod.
If countries complain and the game has to be shipped there without gore, it's censorship.

^ In Germany a FPS is called an ego-shooter... [/pointless trivia]

^^^^ Yeah, I hear some mumbling sound too. It must be dry... we should fill up the well again.

I'm still flattered, but as a programmer I'm bound by a strict code of no fraternization with coworkers, customers, or anybody else.

    It is our way.

Thanks, but not thanks. I can see it's a humour thing now, plus I'm not interested in the game. I've played TFC (I just learned that yesterday. I was thinking all the classes looked familiar) and I didn't enjoy it, although not having a mouse could have been partly responsible.
Shooters are just not my thing. As I was telling Giant Tope yesterday, if I'm playing a game and people go "shoot him!" I'm more likely to answer "but that would hurt him!"

So, not my kind of game. I just don't think I can hurt other PCs. (Obviously, I'm terrible at fighting games as well).

I'm starting to like this thing. Except for the FIRST PERSON SHOOTER part. Maybe the fact we as a country have a black sense of humor helps. Who knows.

Reminds me of my landlord's 3-year-old boy who was round yesterday...

Fearsome child: [brandishing child-sized cricket bat] I'M GOING TO HURT YOU!!

puzzlebox: [cowering] Please don't hurt me.

    [Fearsome child ponders this]

Fearsome child: I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!

puzzlebox: Let's review option 1 again.

I'm very bad at strategy/warfare games (in addition to most other games outside the adventure genre)... I tend to build a happy little village, populated by happy little villagers, and let them live their happy little villager lives until some marauding army comes and crushes them like so many ants. Their quality of life is fantastic... it's just the quantity of life that suffers. :p

After watching the handy intro videos that Jake posted... yes, very much so!

Although I'm pretty sure it would be a social faux pas to play Soldier and launch a retaliatory grenade attack on him.

They also wear silly hats. It looks awesome.
I have no clue what's the difference between a mod and a setting so I'll let someone else answer.
Oh yes, I realize. I've played TF2 for a bit, though I am still incredibly bad. Never heard of that option though. Also, no hat in TF2 is as awesome as my hat IRL.

You must have known that statement would lead to a request for pictures.

    So... pictures please!

Oh, you need not be in the photo, just the hat will do fine. ;)

I guess I can deal without it though... I shall continue living my life as before, each day just a little darker now in the knowledge that I may never gaze upon the awesomeness that is your hat.

Nay. You cannot tease us with promises of hats. I can take empty promises of shirts. I can even take empty promises of pants, if I'm in a good enough mood. But when somebody bandies about the words "awesome hat", they must deliver.

Just have someone else wear the hat. A good-looking male would be ideal.

Yeah, I'd be fine with that, too.

Or maybe I'm just that terrifying. But it's probably the other thing.
Must be you as I can't remember that ever happening to me in more than a decade of cranking out code.

Or maybe I've just been working for all the right wrong people until now... :D

I actually had the nerve to say "Hi" to a programmer in the kitchen the other day. By the end of the week, he'd relocated to Canada.

    Coincidence? I think not.
