Screaming Narwhal Concept Art

talesofmi_ship_concept.jpg

I know it's a little silly to devote an entire thread to this, but I found it interesting. In Ryan Jones' concept art of the Screaming Narwhal, if you look to the left of the main mast (or main tree) then you'll notice that DeSinge's wind gun sitting in the ship. Now, I'm just wondering, why is it there? Perhaps this is an early piece of concept art and the gun was originally meant to belong to Winslow? This is the only reason that I can think of, can you think why the wind gun is in the ship? Theories? Theories may be silly, un-serious and frivolous.

    The weathervane?

So, you mean that the gun was originally intended to serve the same purpose as the weathervane somehow?

Sorry to ruin any potentially cool backstory, but I think the gun went out to modeling at the same time as everything else, and it got drawn in there just because it was all part of the same delivery. No cool story reason.

Ah, that would've been the same reason that the bomb is on the ship as well. Thanks for the reply.

I can't get over just how much that particular image looks like in came from Wind Waker

So, is that supposed to suggest that you are 'the bomb'?

    Or just his package?

Somebody set us up the bomb!

    I'll get my coat...

    I am indeed the bomb.

Both. And really, the art design for the whole game is about one step away from Wind Waker. Which is not a bad thing at all.

I'd actually love to see a 2D MI game with Ryan Jones' concept as the actual in-game artwork. It's just that good.

And if not that, then it'd be cool to see him team up with Bill Tiller and create a CoMI style game.

I agree.... I think Ryan would be an excellent choice for a 2D game artist.. I would even say his character design is better than Tiller's... they both do really great backgrounds.
