Is the bundle deal download only?

The Tales of Monkey Island / Secret of Monkey Island bundle has intrigued me:
http://www.telltalegames.com/store/secretofmonkeyisland

I was just about to buy it, but then I realized that the page above doesn't state whether the bundle is download-only or a DVD. If it's a DVD, great! No more questions. But if it's a download-only, I've got a couple of follow-ups:
1) Will I need to download a Telltale client to download the game?
2) Is there any information on Telltale's DRM policy?

Thanks in advance for the help!

No it's not a DVD (except for TMI. You can get the TMI DVD for free plus shipping (if you choose to order it afterwards) if you buy the bundle, but not SMI:SE).

There is no TellTale Client for downloading games bought from their store. Just a download link in your account on the website. Much like Good Old Games.

Telltale's DRM is basically online activation. Something about SecureRom. Somebody more knowledgable can fill in the blanks here. Though, apparently SMI:SE on TTG's store uses a serial key rather than online activation. Either way it's very unobtrusive.

I am curious about this as well.

Also, for those that already bought the Deluxe Pre-Order of Tales, can we just buy this version of SMI separate (without the bundle)? Every time I click on the 9.95 price, it just takes me to the bundle page.

Edit: Ah, I just saw that there is a little small print down at the bottom that lets you order just this one. Too bad there's no hard copy, but this download doesn't require Steam right?

There's a link near the bottom of this page that says "Already have Tales of Monkey Island? Get The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition for only $9.95! Buy now!.

Thanks for the reply. And I see it is just a basic old download. Thank goodness. I think I may buy it then. I have it on Steam, but I would really like to just have it on my computer as a file.

There's probably some form of DRM on the version sold on Telltale's store as well though. Probably online activation of some sort.
If you are conserned about such things that is.

Thanks, Musically. It would be good to get some more info on the DRM used though. Standard questions I have:
    1) Can I download it as many times as I want?
    2) Can I have it on multiple machines at once?
    3) Do I need to be online in order to play?

I usually use Steam to download games so I'm used to the friendly DRM they use. I wanna make sure this DRM is friendly too - as much as DRM can be friendly, of course.

    Yes, yes and no.
Telltale games have to be activated once, either online or per serial number which Telltale can sent you on request.
I don't know about MI1SE, though, as I have the Steam version already.

If Steam is friendly, then TTG's DRM is your very best friend.

And like I said earlier, it seems that SMI:SE requires a serial key you get with the download.

The answer to this question is technically yes, but if you mean "Can I activate it as many times as I want?" the answer to that is no, they've said the number of activations is somewhere around 20+, and if you somehow burn through that many, you can likely just email support and they'll raise the limit for you.

    So it's basically a non-issue. :p

OK you guys have allayed any DRM fears I had, and I just purchased the bundle. Thanks for all the helpful answers!

I would go even further and say if Steam is friendy, TTG's DRM is your lover...

I wouldn't go that far...Steam isn't so bad.....if you plan on having a constant internet connection for the rest of your life....which I do. It may keep you from playing your favourite games after armageddon takes place, but at least it does a good job of providing what every gamer wants: games to play and play well without invasive copy protection schemes. Which is more than you can say for a lot of other games and game developers/publishers.

Add either the Deluxe DVD or Standard DVD to your cart. It should automatically deduct the price of the season in your cart. Or order it from this page, which should show you your discount before you even get to your cart.
