Sam&Max + Tales of monkey island problems

So i decided to buy the pair from steam on my mac and downloaded only to find they wont work :(

When i try to play it just opens a screen saying preparing to launch game which flickers on and off and wont stop unless i force close steam altogether.

I have updated all software etc and tried downloading again but still no luck. any ideas would be much appreciated I'm looking forward to playing. :D

    I am having an identical problem, also with the Telltale Steam pack for mac. The game starts to load, then closes on its own. Steam then repeatedly continues to attempt to run the game.

    Does anyone have any advice?

    Same pack from Steam, but for PC. S&M goes fine, Tales... does not. It has the same splash screen in Steam colours, then absolutely nothing. No message, no error, nothing.
