WOW a outsurge of Monkey Island perversion

Ok, I'm not saying you should be doing an innocent search of Elaine Marley on google images will bring up some pretty intense images after a few pages...

I used to search Monkey Island images all the time, things have really changed. I wonder if Tales has any say in all of that. WOW, just wow..

Any thoughts why it picked up so heavily?

I have to ask, SafeSearch is usually set to moderate as a default, right? So why did you change it to off in the first place, because that's the only way you'll see the images :O

so, you're openly admitting on this forum that you're an avid porn viewer?

quick, someone shut this thread so he doesn't reveal anything else!

Well, at any rate I had the search protection off and thought that would be funny to admit openly, honestly. I don't know if Im avid at (anything) that I do...:)

Just searching Monkey Island or Elaine Marley on google doesn't take you to those types of things. Even after a few pages. At least I don't see them (and yes, safe search is off)

Are you using key words that might change your results? ;)

No, i wasn't even that ambitious. Maybe my computer has a closer relationship to me than I realize...

What can I say? It knows me...

Ok, I see where this is going I'm a pervert, etc etc, it's just my computer...

Let's just forget it then. :)

Do you have one with just one lock and lots of keys?

I'll see what google produces :) I have this:

But this more suggests unlocking a thread.

Edit: Yes, I've found one. But I don't think these are keys you meant...

Erm, I was trying to be perverted.
But I guess you should cherish your innocence. Or something.
    Thanks for the effort though!

Trying being the operative word. Now that it's been stated that it was supposed to be perverted, I think I see what you were trying to get at, but it originally flew under my radar as well.

I thought it was obvious, coming from me. But it's hard, it seems I'm either not subtle at all or too subtle. Mmh.
  • edited May 2010
    I didn't get it either.

    I do now, though.
  • edited May 2010
Not to self: Avistew posting in a thread mentioning an "outsurge of perversion" can make an innuendo without people getting it.
I guess I'll add a smiley next time.

    Let me try again:
Mmh, I'd prefer it if there was just one lock and lots of keys, instead! :p

    Ah, I feel stupid now!

Usually I'd pick up on stuff like that, but not this time.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one that didn't notice, though.

I posted a thread about this is my weird and wonderful things of monkey island on the internet......i came across a Hentai version of Guybrush making love with Carla the swordsmaster

and that was on google images lol

I think it's a little sad, personally. It's not in the spirit of Monkey Island. It's not what the games are all about. It's just a bit annoying.

I must fail at google, because I only see one or two pics even with SafeSearch off. I would have though there would be more, considering, you know... Morgan. :P

Yes, but you got to realize that there's 100s of pages, I think I was on about page 8, with about 100 results per page. Our search settings aren't even necessarily the same.

I don't really care for it either Hayden.

If you don't search for it, then you can go through your life without seeing it. I don't understand how something quite so easy to avoid could be annoying?

Well Monkey island is a living fan base, maybe he's just disgusted that a portion of it, a living segment of it is so perverse.

If that's what's on Google, I'd hate to see what's on other search engines.

Yeah, it's a number of things. You've basically got it there though, Doodo. That and the fact that you're probably going to run into the pictures sooner or later if you are actually doing a search for some MI pics. A lot of people like to work on MI-related projects such as video tributes, these usually involve searching on google for images that they may want to include. And it may become hard to do so without accidentally viewing this perverted fan art.

I really don't get point why someone would make nude drawings of Elaine Marley, but I guess some people get their kicks from weird stuff like that. I also think that it's disrespectful towards the original work and it's creators and fans to make porn version, but apparently there is demand for such works, because otherwise no one would make such things.

I wonder why LucasArts hasn't sued those who make unauthorised Monkey Island™ porn cartoons.

I couldn't agree more. I really hope that these images get taken down somehow. I don't know about you, or the rest of the forum-ites, but when I see art similar to this (which I haven't actually seen yet), I can't help but view the characters differently when I see them again - this happens with some of my favourite cartoons, like the Simpsons. It's not as though it changes my view of them drastically, it's just in the back of my mind while I'm watching the cartoon and it ruins it just a little. I don't want this happening while I'm playing Monkey Island.

I'm sure LucasArts wouldn't be happy about this MI porn. I'd really like them to put their foot down on this and try to police it to an extent. They unfairly did it to MI fan games, why can't they do the right thing and tell the artists to cease and desist and remove this crap from the net. Those who get off on stuff like this can pick up a pencil and draw their own inappropriate fantasies, it doesn't need to be posted online. And if they do want to share it with others, they should upload the file to megaupload or something, not for direct viewing.

NO! Sam & Max is a banned artwork of porn; it will never be used for any perversion, except for nature!

I've seen Sam and Max porn before.

I don't know, seems to me porn is part of anything that's successful. Sometimes I go on a certain infamous website and see if there is porn of a certain thing (comic, game, book, movie) and then I know how famous it is. It doesn't ruin anything to me, and I personally don't find it any more disrespectful than any fanart or fanfic.
Plus I disagree that it's "not in the spirit of Monkey Island", since unlike some other stuff that get porned, MI is about adults who are sexually active and do comment on it regularly for the sake of jokes.
I personally have never ended up seeing such thing without looking for it, so I think it's "hidden" enough as it is anyways. I don't think any of it is arousing, it's more of a mix of hilarious and WTH?!.

EDIT: RD linked to a review of "ET: the porno" (somewhere in the boobs thread). Now that's a perfect example of hilarious WTH?! moments.

Yes, and there's no problem with that. It's good, it's funny. But that is where the line should be drawn, the fans don't need to go any further with it.

The worst is when you hear about something by seeing the porn of it first, then you take interest. Or when the porn of something you've heard of sparks an interest in it. This is most commonly a problem with anime and manga.
