Would it work?

Yes, I have gotten it to work. I don't think I even had to do that much messing around with Compatibility.

Use the EMI Installer and EMI Launcher from MixnMojo, works fine on Windows 7 then, same with CMI.

Here and here's the Installer, should you need it.

I actually had to paste a No-CD crack into the game folder for it to start up!

I got EMI to run on vista by using the new installer an setting the compatability mode to Windows 98/Windows ME so im sure it will work on Windows 7, I also got a No-CD crack to play without the disc (took me a while to find one that worked and included the music)

I already created another thread with a very long post explaining how to get all of the first 4 MI games and Grim Fandango to work with newer OS's. And yes, I can run EMI and I have Win7.

It bothers me that a number of people don't know how to get older Monkey Island games (and Grim Fandango in a few cases) to work in newer OS's, such as Windows 7.

Anyways, I just wanted to post/repost this to let everyone know how to do it, in case you still can't figure it out. These instructions are for Windows.

For Escape from Monkey Island and Grim Fandango, you need new game installers. The launcher that comes with each installer is unnecessary.

    Grim Setup: http://quick.mixnmojo.com/grim-fandango-setup

I only used the installer. I don't use the launcher and it works fine for me. The launcher's only function is just that it tries to allow you to change the resolution, but it fails at that bcuz then the cutscenes mess up and the only noticeable change from raising the res when you're in full screen is the text is smaller, which is both pointless and makes it harder to read.
