He's a kid in a carnival and it's all fake...
I honestly think that Ron Gilbert's big secret was already given to us. He lead us to believe that the ending of Monkey Island 2 was just a dream or that Guy brush is a kid in a carnival. I really, really, don't like that idea.
I've always enjoyed the Monkey Island games as historical pieces and I've never appreciated or liked the ending of the second game....
I think Ron should keep his secret to himself.
Part of the comical wit and irony of Monkey Island is that the silly island has a big secret, that's part of what made MI 2 so funny is that there was a big secret...then the ending killed it viciously and it wasn't remotely funny and left everyone confused and pissed off...
Part of what makes Monkey Island 1 and 2 work is that there is a big secret of some sort, it's funny. A wannabe pirate on a mysterious quest, after some big secret. No one really wants to know what it is. This isn't finding Atlantis! That's not the point of the secret of Monkey Island, in my opinion.

Yeah, they tried redirecting it in some sort of coherent and possible direction to save the franchise. That part is confusing too...
Is it really a dream?
Do bumper cars even float?
Whenever you see something like that, voodoo did it.
So do I, more out of hope than anything.
You know what? I didn't hate that ending. In fact, the ending itself is just a joke, no need to make a big fuzz about it. To be honest CMI tries to explain it and I'm having a bigger problem with that than with the MI2 one. Just say he bumped his head and dreamed the ending of MI2. It was that simple. Instead CMI tried to explain an ACTUAL carnival in the middle of the Carribean. I like CMI, but that really was an overkill.
It happened to me as well. I think it took me about 20 seconds or so to figure out what the hell happened. Wasn't the topic something to do with Al Lowe?
Well, it's totally stupid to have bumper cars to begin with, so it's pretty damn hard for me, esp since he's a kid and he's like in the 90s at that point...
It's also stupid that LucasArts logos are everywhere, so what's your point?
Its been 19 years. I think we can dispense with the need for spoiler warnings.
Well, to be sincere, if anyone is browsing the forums for the fifth game of a series trying to avoid spoilers for the second part of the same series, released almost twenty years ago...
Where was I?
or we played curse back when we had no clue what monkey island was, played escape for a bit but thought "naaaah" and stopped, then played secret of monkey island special edition, thought it was awesome, decided to order tales of monkey island deluxe edition and is currently in this forum waiting for it to arrive, and is still planning on buying monkey island 2 special edition, but now got the ending to that game spoiled.
But I think if there is a real big secret, it should be revealed.
The ending of MI2 is spoiled in Curse anyways.
But I agree putting the ending of something as a title isn't very smart.
He is? Wow, I can't believe I didn't realise that.
Please, doodo, stop this crap, no one cares and your just spamming your own thread. It's sad.
i don't know if you noticed, but there are threads on MI2:SE and about the DVD.
also curse didn't spoil the ending for me, since i had no idea i had anything to do with the end of MI2 and i played it a long time ago anyway.
whatever, i'm nott actually angry, just stating why it's a bit annoying that major spoilers to a really old game many might not have played and is just now being rereleased is not nice.
The Secret of Monkey Island...
If you don't want to risk spoilers to a monkey island game, if you're that worried in a place that's open for discussion for the entire saga then don't post on the forum until you've played the game...
Just the other day I read the same spoiler I posted, untagged and in the open.
What's priceless is that it was probably one of you, or that I could find several instances where you spoil something from the first, second, third, fourth, or fifth game...or about whatever else you're talking about openly without spoiler tags.
