Monkey2 not working!

I have the whitelabel MI1 and MI2 combo, and all the MI1 files (monkey1.000, monkey1.001 and all the music files) copied across fine, as did monkey2.000 (I think, cannot check for sure), but monkey2.001 just isn't copying across. I get an error that windows cannot read from the source file or disk. I fear that one file has corrupted. I don't want to download a full version of the games from online because it would be overkill for one file, and also I'm very wary of viruses and stuff. Any advice?

Is there any other drive you can try? Even on a friends PC? At work / School? Anything?
Either the disc is not working or your drive doesn't like it.

That only works if you can actually run those games on your PC.

sometimes something as simple as taking the cd out and wiping it with your shirt can do the trick. Also, if you're using scummvm, try playing it off the cd.

Either the disc or drive is bad. Or both lol. I've had this happen to me before. But yes, you can just buy the special edition. Fans have created tools to extract the original CD-ROM data files from SMI:SE and you can use them with ScummVM no problem. There's no reason to think this wouldn't also be possible with MI2:SE.

Take the disc to your local used games/music store and ask them to resurface it.

I asked the nearby Vintage Stock here if they would (they have a resurfacing machine behind the register), and they said yes and it would cost me one dollar.

    OR

Would it be wrong for one of us to upload that one file to Mediafire so he can download it? The game isn't playable if someone only had that one, so I don't see why that would be wrong.

Oooh, thanks for all the suggestions guys. As it is, I managed to get the CD working on another, older, supposedly crappier computer and threw the files across. Cheers for all your help though :D

Maybe not you're shirt, but he's right. When I bought Blade Runner, I didn't think I would get it to run. I cleaned a booger off the CD and BAM! It worked...

    Were you even using ScumVm?
