It turns out the £25 game thing is only if it's bought with the console itself. HMV are doing a similair thing I believe (although you have to pre-order that bundle with them I think)
Just had a call from HMV saying their stock is limited on games so theyre getting all preorderees to reserve copies. They are doing bundles on most games which works out around 25 for the game I think. Then you get a £20 voucher for pre-ordering (could be on all 3ds sales, not sure) which can go towards a second game
I really think Capcom should do a rerelease of the Megaman Legends series on 3DS, merely because I want to be able to own the whole trilogy when 3 comes out.

That's pretty good. The £20 gift card goes to anything instore (but on you next order probably. Although the cashier might be nice and let you use it against that purchase). I wish I went with HMV. When I went in to tradein my DSi/PSP they told me they weren't accepting PSP's, so I went to GAME instead. I went in this morning and there was a poster up saying that they were paying extra for PSPs now. ¬_¬
Anyway, i'm getting rayman 3D and pilotwings, (all for £145 including the 3DS, due to trading in various stuff) and will be playing okamiden over the weekend. Good times.
Right now I'm getting the "Don't Pay $250+ For A Console With No Games" bundle. It's the cheapest because it's this $0 bundle that doesn't saddle me with the first hardware revision of a handheld that may or may not have something I actually want to play sometime in the future, but right now definitely doesn't have anything that is particularly compelling.
The way I see it, there wont be any price drops anytime soon so get the console with a decent DSi trade-in price. Yes, none of the launch games justify the pricetag but for me, paper mario, mario kart, mgs3, zelda, mario 3ds and kid icarus DO justify the price. Id want one eventually to play these games. Waiting a year for a version with longer battery life and slightly bigger screens doesnt seem worth it to me
Ps: we all know you'll be first in line for the midnight launch RD

Don't forget the built in AR games! And Star Fox!Those (well some of them at least) are supposedly quite good. The good thing about the 3DS with regards to battery life is that the battery is easily removable (albeit with a small screwdriver), so a third party (or even Nintendo) can easily release a beefier battery. Or at least a handy spare one. (Charge both up before a long journey, then reattach one and the battery cover with tape! Sorted.)

Those games won't be out for quite some time anyway, and 3DS looks awful for DS games, from what I've heard, because of the difference in screen size and resolution.
Also, my friend tried an in-store unit, and said the 3D only barely worked for him on the lowest setting, and even then it hurt his eyes to look at.
The AR games are superb! I only got to try the dragon AR game game and the 3D effect was stunning. From what I hear you can use your coins to buy more of these games which is cool. Dont know how much playtime i'm going to get out of these though. I didn't get very far in Lylatwars, might pick that up and give it another go

Yeah, definately worth trying one first. Some people will have this problem but it worked well for me. Granted I only played it for half an hour but any headaches I felt were due to it being Saturday morning
Rayman 3D scored 58% in Ngamer today apparently, being cited as a "loveless, pointless port"
However, someone with the game on another forum I visit seemed positive about it, saying
"Ok so I suppose it's a bit dated in places, but for me that just makes it all the more nostalgic and it is over 10 years old. It also still plays wonderfully, and the 3D really does add to the experience. The sound quality on the 3DS is top notch as well, so the awesome music is just as amazing as it was all those years ago when we were first playing it. And the frame rate point brought up is bullcrap - there are no frame rate issues whatsoever. The 3D also is flawless the majority of the time, so for anyone nervous of how well this game serves us technically, you need not worry!
It might be dated and it might be a remake, but it's the damn best remake of TGE and is a fine way of saying Rayman is back... sort of."
So, mixed messages. I'm still getting it, so I'll let you know what I think of it.
I already own Rayman 2 on DS, so I don't see why I'd ever want to rebuy it if I could play it in the 3DS anyway. However, I am curious as to how bad DS games look in the 3DS, if they do.

They can either look much better (but be harder to play as they shrink the screen) or a little bit blurry due to being stretched, depending on which mode you have it set in.

Oh. I should have ordered a game too, instead of thinking there would still be games left, none of them could go out of stock. Also, that's two people now I've seen who have been getting calls about their stock of 3DS stuff, and I haven't had anything. Should I be worrying?
"much" better is a terrible exaggeration. What you're referring to(I'm sure) is the Kotaku story which used an eyeball test between the XL and the 3DS. The XL already displays the games bigger than they are supposed to be, so games on that handheld often look slightly worse than on their smaller counterparts. Even with those methods, they said the improvement was slight. And personally, it comes off to me like it's another Nintendo handheld that just is weird when trying to play legacy software, which seems to be something they haven't cared about since the GBA SP.

Also, load times are longer on the 3DS as well.
From what i've heard it's about the same difference that GBA games under went when played on the micro. i.e. much sharper and crisper. Although I did see that Kotaku video, i'm actually remembering what a few people have said this morning on the ONM forums (yes they're fanboys, but some did recieve their 3Ds's in the post this morning).

Probably not, hopefully its just for specific stores. He was pushing me to reserve more than 1 game so maybe it was all just tactics. I'd be surprised if anyone has problems getting hold of games tomorrow
yeah, by 4 or 5 seconds. Its a shame but I can live with it as long as the framerates and ingame performance is all as it should be. Im used to a blurry XL, it might end up looking better. Or put it in 1:1 mode and I'll dig out that huge magnifier accessory for gameboy and strap it on somehow
Yeah, they should have enough games. They're probably just pushing it so that they can get the bundles ready to go tomorrow. It'll be pretty hectic, so I guess they want to cut down on people randomly browsing, and cut down queue length.
I have school tomorrow, so I'll have to wait to get my 3DS. That's why I'm asking about it. Hopefully there will be a copy of Pilotwings, and maybe something else if I make a bit of extra money from my trade ins. That will need to be decided later though. Still excited though!
I'm getting mine after College. I was planning on just grabbing one or two of the games that were there, but I had time spare today so made my pre-order. I can't think of a time when the likes of GAME have sold out of a specific game. The mostly likely candidate is probably street fighter, or some of the cheaper ubisoft games. Pilotwings has recieved some offputting reviews about its longevity, so that should impact sales a bit, so there should be one for you still!
Pilotwings may be a simple tech demo, but should be fun while it lasts. The other game I may get if I make decent trade in money may be Monkey Ball. Yeah, it's short and easy, but it was originally my first choice. Don't know too much on Street Fighter, so that's a not. Unless there are some good things about it for newcomers.
Im curious if he was in power savers mode.
Either way playing DS games on the 3ds wont be the best experience I know.
Basicaly I choose from playing it stretched, or in its naitive resolution but the rest of the screen makes me sad it isnt bigger(and no I did not get the XL)
So that is a bad part of the 3ds, that and people will exploit the pedometer and game coins as they have already found ways around the cap.

I also read reports nintendo can remove online privileges and stop you from reselling the console if you use an r4 card. Not that Im bothered as I only used it to play Dr. Mario, plus I've got an iphone rip-off version now. Still trading in my XL! (If I hadn't taken tomorrow off work, maybe I could have justified keeping it )
I'll use my usual rule of not buying it unless it has 5 games I really want to play that aren't available anywhere else.
Even then, I'll wait until I'm confident I won't change continents again, because of the zone thing.
Interesting read, until it got to the bit where he said the other guy didn't notice the down change at all until it was mentioned to him. Maybe its something to do with his settings, or maybe he has a faulty unit. I mean, how can something like that be glaringly obvious to one person, and barely noticeable for another?
It happens all the time. Tons of people don't think there's "much difference" between a great and crappy DVD release, generally speaking. I've seen people who say they prefer a DVD release that does this when the frame shakes:
Because "there's less grain and the picture is brighter". I've seen other people who say that it's not much different from the better releases, or that they didn't notice until it was side-by-side.
Yeah, I honestly prefer DVD grain. Also, I would probably never play a DS game on the 3DS. I play GBA games on my GBA SP, and DS games on my DS Brick. It's just better.

Well, i like my games all bright and colourful, so I play my GBA games on my old DS lite, (and my DS games will probably be played on my 3DS, given the fact i've already given my DSlite to my family to use now.
So i'm picking mine up at like half eight in the morning, i'm going with a friend but we have to pick em up at the two different stores we ordered them in because we don't coordinate shit!!
The worst of it is that i'm not even convinced if this thing'll be good
Comments
But i've a hankering it might be shit
Your hankering is most likely right.
Cheer up, it might not be dead.

I went for SFIV cos my buddy's getting it for da duelling and the Splinter Cell affair, respectively for da sneaking
Now we can fight each other...unless it's only local dueling.
Oh shiii' it'll be interneted i'd put money on it. 3DS is going for online in a big way
Worldwide multiplayer, actually.
