I guess this is a typo then? Nintendo games sell in a different way to console games. A large portion of the audience aren't the sorts of people who buy games the instant they come out (hardcore gamers if you forgive the crude term), whereas other consoles have those sorts of audiences making up the majority. Nintendo was one of the most successful companies in the world in business last generation. They knew just how to price their products. Allthough, apparently not the 3DS.

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4012255&prodFindSrc=search (that's a clearance price, by the way)

    http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_018V002069130000P?keyword=warioware

    http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6001539

List price is still $34.99. Just because Amazon and some other retailers are selling it below that price point doesn't mean that Nintendo has cut the price. That typically means that specific retailer ordered way too many copies of the game, expecting better sales, and are trying to blow out remaining stock.

I am talking about Nintendo lowering the MSRP, as most publishers do when a game stops selling. Warioware DIY is still $34.99 MSRP.

Want to see some awesome 3D screens for Super Mario 3D Land? Go on your 3DS browser and click this. Looks fantastic.

    that was pretty cool looking

@shodanFreeman: I agree that on the whole, they do keep the prices high, but that's just business. They sell at those prices, and keep selling. What you have to bear in mind as well is that those games get high trade-in prices too, because they are in demand.

In other news, the 3DS is apparently getting 3D video capture abilities. Cool.

They've put a star fox 64 3D trailer on the eShop. But it isn't in 3D, which defeats the whole object of it being on the 3DS store in the first place.

Plus for some reason the store keeps crashing in my room. ¬_¬

Those 3D screens of Mario Land 3D look great... I am looking forward to that game.

Neku from The World Ends with You (an excellent DS game) is in Kingdom Hearts 3D. Oh yes.

Ohhh, I keep forgetting about World Ends with You....dang it, another game I have to pick up at some point.

So instead of Final Fantasy plus Disney, it is now Square Enix plus Disney?
Ehh he looks fine for the game.

So, it's been revealed that Monster Hunter 3G and Monster Hunter 4 are 3DS exclusives, not coming to the Vita. Even as a Vita hater, this seems an odd move on Capcom's part.
  • edited September 2011
Well the PSP ones stayed PSP exclusive. It's all about who is willing to back them up. As Monster Hunter Tri was Wii exclusive and was help published by Nintendo.
  • edited September 2011
I wonder if that decision is why Capcom's stock dropped...
  • edited September 2011
don't read too much into that. Stocks drop and rise about 5-10% quite often. People buy in then when it raises about 5-10 percent after they bought they sell. Stock market is weird

Not necessarily. Given the wild popularity of the title in Japan, it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo had bought the exclusivity with large sums of money (more then Nintendo would hope to get back from game sales for the title) in an effort to boost sales of the hardware.

In the world of finance, market corrections happen fairly frequently. On the short term they'll rise and dip. The general trend for a productive company is to marginally rise or stay level, especially one that's reached saturation, but temporary dips and rises are common.

Heh heh heh. The main character from "the world ends with you" will appear in a world that is populated by people that survived their world ending. There better be a lame pun about that somewhere in the game.

Well, considering that in Japan it's called "It's a Wonderful World"...

So...which style game is that? And why is this crossover a good idea, other than "Lots of people for whatever reason really like these two franchises"?
  • edited September 2011
It's both game styles. If you're going to complain about it, do some freaking research.
The game was originally an idea that Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level-5, came up with and a project that he himself proposed to Capcom, sometime after some initial development work had been completed on the project. Jun Suzuki, the producer for the Layton series, noted that Hino was a huge fan of the Ace Attorney series and even had challenged Suzuki to "produce something on par with Ace Attorney" while developing the Layton games. The idea came as a surprise to Shu Takumi, series designer for the Ace Attorney series. Keiji Inafune, head of Capcom's R&D Management Group, was "80 per cent certain" that Takumi would refuse the idea. However, according to Inafune, Hino was able convince Takumi to accept the idea, giving him creative control as the main scenario writer for the project.

If you're going to vocalize against this, at least inform yourself about it, instead of just saying "That's stupid!" every time it comes up without knowing anything about it.

    Thank you guru!
Also it was confirmed that it's coming to America now. Level-5 said they were going to port over the highest voted game to America. Well Layton V wright won by 60%.

Edit: I'm really digging the idea that the prosecutor is a straight-up knight.

Not all the screenshots so far look great, but in general it seems like they've done a great job translating the art style of both series into 3D. It also seems like the important characters lean more toward Ace Attorney style, and the general townsfolk-type characters are done up in a more Laytonny style. I'm guessing/hoping that gameplay will be broken into segments where you play as Wright in an AA-style manner, and segments where you play as Layton in the style of his games.

It seems about as pointless as Alien vs Predator or Freddy vs Jason.

Ooh, you're right! Capcom put out an English press release for it.

No, all you had to do was click each screenshot and it would load on the top screen in 3D.

Heh. It's working now. Before it loaded up identical to the PC version (one image on display at a time, with left/right buttons), but now it shows all at once, with clickable 3D version.

Looks good. Still shan't be getting it though.

Looks like the knight is the prosecutor before Layton shows up. It'll be interesting to see how this progresses.

Links Awakening and 4 swords(its free as well) at the moment is it.

Unless your 3ds is japanese were you get the original as well.

Yeah, the 3DS shop is in its infancy still, so hopefully we'll get the Oracle games down the road. It could be a while, though. Just look at how long it took them to get Majora's Mask on the Wii's Virtual Console.
  • edited January 2012
I wonder if we'll get Majora's Mask on the 3DS, would be nice to see it with the same upgraded visuals as Ocarina. I'd really like the Oracle games though, because those were awesome.
