You have to be super extra quick :( I know, it sucks...
Just position yourself near the flags, the blow the horn...and try to be as fast as you can. Hope it helps.

It CAN be done, you just have to be super fast in this version, same with Stan and at a later point, LeChuck. As soon as you blow the horn, when the mouse icon reappears, you have to get to the flags and the action choices within like half a second!

i switched to classic to do it

Is the speed the same in the classic version, or do you have to make the move super fast in that version as well?

I noticed this with the Stan puzzle as well. I remember it being pretty difficult to do sometimes even in the original version, but this was just ridiculous. I can imagine a lot of frustration with a lot of the newcomers of the game. Heck, I didn't even have time to open the damn inventory before that bastard popped up again.

I had so much trouble with LeChuck at the end, both with the hanky and the elevator. It's very frustrating.

Thing is, whereever you place Guybrush, when you blow the horn he walks to the very front in order not be seen by the audience.

I found the keyboard verb shortcuts helpful here: the moment the cursor's back, point it at a flag, press "P" on your keyboard with your other hand and click. Saves a second. ;)

Position Guybrush just below one of the flags. Blow the horn. While the little scene with the guy leaving starts, hover your cursor over one of the flags. As soon as you can do something, hit 'P' on you keyboard (so you activate the 'Pick Up' verb) and click on the flag right after. That's it.

I know it shouldn't feel like an action game, but requiring fast reaction doesn't turn MI2 into a twitch shooter. ;)

    Great double posting. ;-)

yes the P button is helpful there. as for Stan you can use the nails on him while the coffin is open and he'll close it for you (giving you a nice little audio bug where he sounds muffled ,like he's already in the coffin but he's not)

with LeChuck, i just give him the napkin in the room with the helium, when he bends over for the coin. (also a little graphical bug there)

Really, I played about 3 times now and havnt had any problem with this at all, I dont use the keyboard shortcut either, I just use the right click compass wheel to do it.

I havnt had a problem with Stan either, I seem to have plenty of time to open the inventory select nails and click the coffin after closing the lid.

    Yeah.

I saw yours right after I posted mine... :o

And I also just thought, the 'P' trick wouldn't be very helpful to someone who's not playing with a keyboard - IE: any other version than PC

Well, I don't have LCR:SE, but this might be another dual-core issue, like the one in 303 with the battle with Skun-Ka'pe?

What's your system specs? Single, dual or quatro-core?

    dual core
