The Secret Of Monkey Island Special Edition Review - Alternative Magazine Online

Hey guys,

I just posted a review of TSOMI:SE on my site in preperation for my review of LeChuck's Revenge: Special Edition if any of you fancy a look:

The Secret Of Monkey Island: SE Review - AMO

I am also going to be interviewing Dominic Armato about both games, continuing our great interviewing tradition. If any of you have burning questions you want answered in either my upcoming review of MI2:SE or the interview itself, please feel free to let me know!

Ah cool! Hoped we'd get some more Dom interviews. Last time you interviewed him he didn't even know there was gonna be a LCR Special Edition!

I have a question for Dom actually.
I'm wondering if the Special Editions have changed his opinion on the first two games at all, for example, are they higher or lower in his rankings now because of the voicework and additional features.

Oh yeah, and the "THAT's NOT TRUE" scene is now my favourite moment in the series thanks to Dom. :)

Cheers monkeymovies, thats a good idea! Asking how the SE's have changed his perceptions of the originals, if at all will surely provide an interesting reply.

It will also be great when interviewing him about MI2:SE as of course, when we last spoke he wasn't even sure it was going to happen!

Hey there martymcfly, I have two questions: 1: What were Dom's feelings on Guybrush's character in this game? Many, including Dom, say that Guybrush is the nicest guy who can be inconsiderate of others, but this game showed a particular nasty edge of Guybrush that none of the other games have shown to such a degree. He nailed a man shut in a coffin and just left him there, sawed a mans peg leg off, got a man fired and basically ruined his life, stole many, many things, framed a woman, manipulated Elaine’s feelings to get the map, goes on and on. So, what did Dom think about this nastier side to him and why since then has he become a much nicer all together better person?

And 2nd: Since Tales, did Dom try to put more emotion into Guybrush is some scenes that may have called for it. Tales was the first time to show Guybrush having real emotional moments and I was wondering if Dom was influenced by that in any way when voicing the scenes where he finds his dead parents or when he removes LeChuck's mask and sees that he is his brother Chuckie. Thanks a lot!
