Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge SE Review - Alternative Magazine Online

Hey guys,

My review of MI2:SE has just gone live on AMO:

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge - AMO Review

I am also reviewing Dom Artmato about both special editions so feel free to suggest any good questions, I have very open ears! All feedback appreciated.

    Great review, man! :D

Oh, I have one question for Dom. It's about LCR:SE. Maybe you should rewrite it but here it goes:
    - What does he think of the others actors performance in the game? Did they reached what he imagined when playing the original game?

    And also:
    - When's Tales 2 coming? :p

Awesome review. I previously posted two questions for Dom in another thread, but I'd figured I'd post them again.

1: What were Dom's feelings on Guybrush's character in this game? Many, including Dom, say that Guybrush is the nicest guy who can be inconsiderate of others, but this game showed a particular nasty edge of Guybrush that none of the other games have shown to such a degree. He nailed a man shut in a coffin and just left him there, sawed a mans peg leg off, got a man fired and basically ruined his life, stole many, many things, framed a woman, manipulated Elaine’s feelings to get the map, goes on and on. So, what did Dom think about this nastier side to him and why since then has he become a much nicer all together better person?

And 2nd: Since Tales, did Dom try to put more emotion into Guybrush is some scenes that may have called for it. Tales was the first time to show Guybrush having real emotional moments and I was wondering if Dom was influenced by that in any way when voicing the scenes where he finds his dead parents or when he removes LeChuck's mask and sees that he is his brother Chuckie. Thanks a lot!

Great questions, thank you! Glad you enjoyed the review as well mate.

Thanks for the feedback! Good question as well, will be interesting to see how he found the supporting characters now they are voiced!

I just realised that most people (including LucasArts themselves, d'oh!) are calling the game Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge.

I am unsure now whether to rename the review title: I actually feel that Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition is more accurate? (If that even makes sense!) What do you guys think?

leave it as it is. It should be monkey island 2:lechucks revenge special edition should work as that shows its the special editon of lechucks revenge
special edition: lechucks revenge makes it sound like they alterd it to make lechuck go crazy for revenge and things be changed(for instance a manner similar to super mario 64 ds how the plot was changed a bit keeping the main stuff)

Thanks for the feedback, I kinda get what you are saying. It is weird because I got my press copy direct from LucasArts and they obviously spelt it the first way in the press release, but I just subconsciously wrote it my own way when it came to the review.

Anybody else got an opinion on this? I am happy to leave it as it is if you guys think it's justifiable. I have a feeling it is being officially advertised the first way due to there already being a colon ( : ) in the original title. They probably didn't want to go with Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge: Special Edition! (And they had already called first remake The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition so had to utilise at least one instance of ( : ) for continuity, hence Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge).

Oh what difference a colon makes!

(Note: Last time I said that I swore it would be the last time, though those were entirely different circumstances.)

So very true! I am starting to think I should just go with what LucasArts decided even if I think the way I wrote it sounds better (as it is technically incorrect...)

UPDATE: I decided to change it anyway as otherwise it might not get found when people google etc. OCD is a killer! Keep the Dom questions coming!

    Nice review about the game.
Now for my question for Dom:
Did you ask LucasArts if you could "reprise" the role of Largo from the the April Fools gag? If not, do you think it was a missed oppertunity? (I prefered his Largo to the SE one)
