Tales of Monkey Island - Season 2?

edited August 2010 in Tales of Monkey Island
Hi,

I am really sorry if I'm being and idiot, and this has been answered a lot and I just haven't found it, but is there any kind of ETA for the next season of Tales of Monkey Island? I mean we're almost done with Sam n Max and I really am enjoying that as well and all, but I am really craving more Tales. :)

So... any news? I'm even willing to take inaccurate guesstimates if they're from the right people. :)

I will guesstimate that MonkeyMania is not the right people.
More seriously, at this point, no plans have been announced by Telltale for a potential second season.
While it is fair to assume that there is a good chance of a second season seeing the light of day in a somewhat near future (after all, Tales of Monkey Island is Telltale's most successful game to this day), you have to remember that the rights to Monkey Island belong to LucasArts and that ultimately, the future of the franchise is in their hands.
    We can only hope...
My Guesstimate: July 2012 (with Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, the first season of Puzzle Agent and the 6 episodes of their newest franchise Rest of the Week of the Tentacles, Telltale will be too busy in 2011). Not positive about 2012, but July seems like a good month for Monkey Island (July 2009: TOMI and The Secret of Monkey Island: SE; July 2010: LeChuck's Revenge: SE).

    It's called a joke.

Yea I thought it was a joke, but you know its hard to get sarcasm/jokes through posts sometimes.

I don't care about Jurassic Park or Back to the Future. I want Tales of Monkey Island Season 2.

he had a very official sounding title for it, so it can be forgiven for believing

I am of course dreaming of a second season of Tales but you have to remember that we were very fortunate to even get a Monkey Island game to begin with, especially considering how long it's been since Escape was released. In the end it is Lucasarts who have the license so it's up to them.
However Tales did have a bit of an open ending so I'm hoping that there are plans for a second season at least.

I don't understand that expression, who pronounces potato like potarto?
  • edited July 2010
Nobody, but the expression translates badly to writing.

    lazy song writers

I really hope there is one, but I have some concerns that Lucasarts may sit on their adventure game licenses for another decade again.

Hopefully not after they've seen what TTG created with it last year.
  • edited July 2010
No way! TTG is TOO LEGIT TOO LEGIT TO QUIT! TOO LEGIT, TOO LEGIT TO QUIT!

    They'll make another season.

Let me put it the other way round: Can you imagine someone answering the question "Will there be another Monkey Island game/season in the future?" with a plain "No." ?

    Me neither.

I hope they planning a sequel.( and soon)
Right now I play MI 2:SE, never played it before.
The replay value of MI games isn´t the highest either even if they´re great games.
You play trough them, really enjoy it and then you longing for more:D

Me too. Can't agree at all that they don't have replay value. Especially not MI2.

Yeah, okay, that's another thing. Sure the first time you play a game it's mainly about finding out what to do next to progress and looking forward to what's gonna happen in the next cutscene and that's a one time experience.

When replaying a game, I like to try out different things, which, in all of the MI games, you can do a lot, in order to discover easter eggs or details you weren't aware of the first time you played it.
While doing so, you can solve the puzzles in any order you want most of the time, that's a nice touch, too, and adds to the replay value of a game.

:) Usually I solve the puzzles in my order, and most of the times it may not be in "right" order, so some things may seem a little confusing at the time:D

Especially now in MI2, I travel around those islands like a maniac;)

I almost hope they're planning a prequel to stick between Escape and Tales.
  • edited July 2010
They obviously intend to do a Tales of Monkey Island sequel given this one ending. But if you'd ask me, I'd rather have a MI that actually connects to the older games and feel like a direct sequel to Escape.
But I want Tales sequel too
    I want it all!

Me too! I had waited and waited and waited...for 10 years to see a new game of Monkey Island since the Escape from the Monkey Island. Please don't let me wait another ten years!

Writing under to that, the series is so popular, nobody wants to wait for 10 years to go again.

    3 years maximum. Please.

I think that they should focus on a Monkey Island sequel after they finish Sam n Max.
Or let's put it this way:

    - Sam n Max season 3
    - Back to the future and Jurassic park
    - Tales of Monkey Island 2

If I look at that with my head upside down, it looks better to me. :D

Surely they will make a new game - not 'another season' of Tales?

Tales is technically Monkey Island 5 - You would think the next game would be a new one.

Apparently Tales exceeded sales expectations so I would expect another game at some point in the next few years.

As long as we don't get "Histories of Monkey Island", "Anecdotes of Monkey Island", "Limericks of Monkey Island" and "Monkey Island: The Next Generation" ...
