Why come there hasn't been an animated TV series by now?

yeah of course we'd all rather have a full-blown movie with live actors if we could have our way but we can settle for Pirates of the Caribbean making up for that.

Maniac Mansion had one (I think) and they already have all the character designs and voices for a Monkey Island cartoon, and the audience for it - so why not??

It could be awesome as an anime. NO, not the One Piece kind, but more of a random-stuff-every-episode, slice-of-pirate-life kind, without any huge overarching plot.

hmmmmm.. I wonder if fans could extract the art and frames from Curse and run it through ScummVM to do a machinima series on YouTube or something ;)

    There sure was.

I figure there's a good chance of it happening eventually. Especially now that Monkey Island's getting a bit of a revival now and Lucasfilm seems to be interested in doing cartoons these days.

But if it does happen, it's probably some time away...

As long as Dominic is the voice of Guybrush it'd be a winner.

Why would Dom say no? :)
I'd be happy with a TV series if there are no more games.

I cross my fingers in hopes for a MI animated series. That'd be epic/awesome.

The major obstacle to such a series (well, aside from Lucasarts deciding they don't want our money again) would be that the public might percieve it as a PotC rip-off. And perceptions are important....

That's a good point. And the prospect itself frustrates the hell out of me. I could just see that happening; stupid people making false accusations without doing any freaking research. Gosh, I'm finding myself getting angry over something that hasn't even happened yet. I guess that's because it's something that I just know would happen if ever there were a 'Monkey Island' television series.

Hahaha, I loved that one as a kid! I totally forgot about it!
Ever noticed that the scottish guy in the series has the same special jacket effect as Stan? (Used on his kilt)

Maybe, but the same accusation could be made about Flapjack for what it's worth.

It depends on whether or not the series is an adaptation or a continuation, and if it's an adaptation, what game? Nobody could really accuse the first game of being anywhere near Pirates of the Caribbean. They're both about pirates, they both have ghosts, and that's where the similarities end. Le Chuck's Revenge on the other hand was intentionally poking fun at the Disneyland ride.

One other thing we have to consider, is due to the comedic nature of the Monkey Island series as a whole, even if it *was* percieved as a PotC ripoff, most would probably assume it was a parody. *shrug*

How did Guybrush sneak his way into a kids' educational show?

yeah I would probibly advertise it to my friends as a PotC parody... sad to say, most of them would probibly be more likely to watch it if i did

off-topic... love your username polychrome... she's my favorite book character ever, nice to see someone else knows of the existance of the wizard of oz books (unless your username simply means many colors... then HOW DARE YOU!! =D)

I always thought of it. A TV series or a movie, but I'm not sure if it's good. Of course, it the result is good, it will be good for the saga, but as someone said before, perceptions are important and could be veri toxic to Monkey Island if things are not done properly well.

Maybe one of the biggest points on the interest of Monkey Island is the 'always wanting more' that we all experience. An overexpose thing could kill that spirit, if you know what I mean. Or maybe not. As I said, i'm not sure.

Well, the Legend of Zelda cartoon didn't hurt the franchise even though it was bad.
