Monkey Island Reference in the Scott Pilgrim Comics

edited September 2010 in Tales of Monkey Island
After seeing the movie, I decided to read the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World comics. In the second volume, Ramona is fighting Knives. Knives insults Ramona and her response is "How appropriate, you fight like a cow."

I thought you guys would get a kick out of this.

Just found this out. If this was in the movie, I would've completely...as Captain Mickey says...fangasimed.

My friend and I were on the edge of our seats during the fight in the movie just waiting for Ramona to say it, even though we figured she wouldn't.

Scott Pilgrim brings out the nerd in everyone.

Yeah, I did love that scene in the comics.

I saw the film a few days ago, and I vaguely remember noticing a really subtle Monkey Island reference somewhere in there... but for the life of me I can't remember what or when it was.

Anyone remember any references present in the film?

Aww I really wish they'd kept that in the film *grumbles*

Yeah too bad. They kept many things in the movie (epic movie, BTW) but not this line.

It was just so cool in the comics. But yeah I think not THAT many people can get a MI reference... :(

All the more reason to keep it in in my opinion. Unless Edgar Wright didn't get it either, in which case he probably figured it was disposable.
