Yahtzee review

I was bored today when I decided to just search through Yahtzee reviews when I found one on Tales of Monkey Island This review was apparently took before lair of the leviathon was out. Enjoy.

Usual Yahtzee farce, he HAS to hate games unless they happen to be one of his Top 5, the fact that he didn't even wait til the full season was out kind of makes this review pointless since he talks about how crap the game is, how it will never live up to the Original two, anything after is just fanboy crap, saying there's only one or two good puzzles, etc.

Yeah. Yahtzee doesn't really have a leg to stand on with this review. But what's sad is some people probably took it to heart.

    They're all good points

The first two episodes weren't that good, it all went up from there

The points about the pirates all looking the same was a very valid one and one that I completely agree with, as well as the references being really overdone, but that was mainly a criticism of Escape, which he also spoke about a bit

I actually have to disagree a bit, as I enjoyed the Siege of Spinner Cay more than Lair of the Leviathan, though Launch of the Screaming Narwhal was probably the weakest episode of the bunch.

However, there were a few valid points among the bile (the reused character frames remark that Flyingman356 pointed out for example), and as an admitted fan of Yahtzee, I don't put much stock in his criticism beyond it's entertainment value. Ultimately though, I do agree that he came across as overly harsh on everything that followed LeChuck's Revenge and, by and large, he should have waited until the season finished before reviewing it.

Watching him get pissed off at people spamming him to review a game is always fun. Maybe we should pressure him to play the rest of the season and review the game properly?

    Nah.

I thought Siege of Spinner Cay was terrible. I enjoyed the rest of them to varying degrees, with Lair of the Leviathan being the best thing telltale have ever released.

So what you're saying is that he sounds like an overly whiny Ron-Glibert fanboy who hates any and all things post-MI2 by default and will complain just for the sake of hearing himself complain?

I think I've met a few people on here who are like that...

He reviewed by far the two weakest episodes of Tales.

So it shouldn't be full of flowery praise anyway.

And most people reviewed episode 1 with their nostalgia goggles firmly in place and gave it a higher mark then it deserved anyway.

    For me:

    Ep 1 - 6/10
    Ep 2 - 4/10
    Ep 3 - 10/10
    Ep 4 - 9/10
    Ep 5 - 8/10

And those are using the whole scale, no IGN "six out of ten = horrible game" here.

Just for reference, we had a long thread about this review back when it came out:

I'm not surprised this got addressed before, since the review's been out for about a year.

Just wondering if the link is region locked, everytime I click on it I always get a server not found error?

Odd, I don't have a problem with it...

That link about "Yahtzee vs. Tales" opens up for me no problem. :)
