    Amazing. This is so awesome.

wow. LUcasarts just got one thousand more sales in this game

next up, Sam with a lightsaber.

Also who wants to bet like a thousand people who buy this game will have no clue why this is in the game.

LA Probably has no clue how much sales this one skin will get the game.

I read the comments, and I pity the people that don't know why he's in the game. Some examples:

"who is guybrush threepwood? hes ugly whoever that is!"
"If that the extra content that I get for getting the limited edition imma be pist off"
"who is he? he is ugly!"
"this is crap there should be data deletion that you should be able to dom on next-gen consoles to delete crap things like this from great games. an indiana jones costume would be better than this!"

    And my personal favorite:

"Allright, but... Where's the demo?!?!?" by Daniel Herrera, a guy that works at Telltale as Senior Choreographer.

He sorta looks like the MI3 Guybrush to me. Could that be hinting at something? :D

Dammit, I so didn't care about this game before now.

DAMN YOU, LUCASARTS! STOP MAKING ME GIVE YOU MONEY!

I honestly think that LA is considering making a new MI game. o.O
Think about it... the MI2:SE teaser was in full 3D, and very nicely done. Now they're "poking" around to see if we're interested. :-?

They tried MI2 version of Guybrush in 3D. This is clearly CMI Guybrush in 3D.

If we get to see another MI reference in the next 8 weeks, my theory is confirmed! And you can send me cookies. And coffee. But I'll throw away the coffee, so just send me the cookies.

I would be cool it LucasArts made a new Monkey Island game, because of the graphics and the animations mostly. That was my only complaint with ToMI: The repetead animations. Apart from that, I love every minute of it. There was some of the most impressive writing in a video game ever.

LucasArts should only make a new MI game if the right people is involved. The guys who made ToMI should at least consult on it. And it would be cool if Ron was more heavily involved.

    But I'm speculating too much...

Max is already ambiguously canon in the Star Wars universe! He and Guybrush should team up! http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Max_%28bunny%29

Even if it's not a new game they're planning, perhaps it's a taste of a Curse of Monkey Island special edition?

All confirmed...seemingly. We can't really trust Lucas Arts ever since they said they were going to continue Sam and Max.

    Reminds me of this comic.

I read a post in that forum that blew my mind. At some point Guybrush will probably be able to fight Vader. Holy sh-poopie.
  • edited September 2010
I was really hoping that they were going to throw Guybrush into Soul Caliber along with the Star Wars characters... nice to see him finally making an easter egg appearance again.

    I wonder if he's voiced?

That's what I was just thinking. It would be awesome if he was, especially if he was voiced by Dom. Though, I highly doubt it. Wouldn't he just have the voice of Starkiller?

Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn. That looks pretty slick. If it is a sign of a new LucasArts produced Monkey Island then sign right up. I thought Telltale did a fantastic job with Tales but I will be honest, I wasn't blown away by the visuals. In a perfect world I would love to see Telltale handle the creative writing aspects while LucasArts handled the sound visual aspect of the game. Oh please happen.

Am I the only one who thinks the model looks horrible? Thats the second ugliest Guybrush Threepwood I've ever seen in my life!

I agree. What the hell is up with those little squinty eyes?

I didn't think that the model looked that bad at all, but I do admit that yours is better. Top job. LucasArts should use your version.

I wasn't thinking about cutscene dialogue, just little voice clips during gameplay. They could probably just pull existing clips from the MI games

    1) Yes, your does look a bit better but making the nose a bit smaller does not change it from an "abomination" to something significant. The model looks good enough as is.

    2) Guybrush doesn't have an exact look. Every singe game he has been in has had significant changes to his appearance. This model most closely matches his look from CMI, which does have a very large nose, so you can't say yours is any more accurate.

Too much nitpicking in the MI community.

The only thing that looks off to me is the sad face. Guybrush didn't even make sad eyes as exaggerated as that when his wife basically cheated on him with a corpse.

How is having an opinion too much nitpicking? The guy can conceal a Lightsaber in his nose! Sure in a cartoony over-the-top game I might let it slide, but in this game Guybrush sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm just baffled why they chose the CMI design. It's so out of place and it just doesn't look any good in 3D.

Ah, yes. Well, hopefully. That would be nice, seeing as how Guybrush is the talkative type. It wouldn't really seem like Guybrush if he were just silent all of the time.

damn, I might just have to get TFU2 now... (when I finish TFU1) Of course this aside gameplay is still fun, this is just a bonus to push it over the top. Is this in both versions? (assuming there are PS3+360 versions)
  • edited September 2010
I wonder if it's just Guybrush or if Lucasarts plans on adding some of its other classic characters as skins. Sam & Max, Manny Calavera, Ben Whatsisname... And I have to agree with one of those facebookers, an Indy skin would be awesome.

It very well could be, but I don't agreee with the guy that posted that AT ALL, because he also said this about the Guybrush skin: "this is crap there should be data deletion that you should be able to dom on next-gen consoles to delete crap things like this from great games."
  • edited September 2010
Does anybody know in which platform(s) will be this skin? I have PC, Wii, PSP and NDS. I'll need to buy a PS3 or Xbox360 just to have this skin? Because I'm feeling very likely to do it...

Dang, there went my fanart idea.

    Huge props to Lucasarts though.

I suppose I should also mention that in the first two "special editions", Guybrush appears to be either a cell-shaded or painted-over CG model. For the second game, the CG model was used in a trailer.

Man, how great would have been if LA added the MI2 trailer model of Guybrush to SWTFU instead of this one.

I may be reading way too into this and getting too excited...but this model reminds me most of CMI Guybrush which mildly leads me to believe that a CMI: SE might be coming soon.
