Sam & Max 301 (Mac) - Entire system becomes flashing black screen

Very, very strange, and definitely linked to the game - sometimes, when Max is teleporting, all of a sudden (mostly in windowed mode but it's happened, I believe, in full screen), two thirds of the screen will black out, the other will have scanlines and flash. The system still runs, though... I hear my IMs coming through, and sounds from the game.

Any ideas? :\

    I can't even open the game. Or rather, a window pops up with the title to the right and a prompt to enter my email address at the bottom, but otherwise all I can do is force quit the darn program.
