Advice Requested for Game Control
Let me start by saying I'm not a computer gamer, but have always been a fan of the BTTF trilogy. I used a conventional mouse on this program but found the controls too sensitive. Can anyone suggest a compatible game controller; I'm running System 7, 64 bit laptop but can also run on an XP desktop. Thanks.... Cam

Thanks, but NO, not too well coordinated and an older "hunt & peck" keyboarder! Also, being left handed and looking for what serious gamers use to keep the action fluid, was my objective. I don't like touch pads and would be comfortable using the mouse, except the flux capacitor cursor dances around and hints/inventory features, slowing down my reaction times.
Thanks, I presume this works as a USB device on a PC?
Also, does this function on a System 7, 64 bit OS? I have a similar looking Microsoft Sidewinder Game Pad PRO but it appears there is no Vista or System 7 driver available.
I believe the arrow keys work too. I would think using your right hand to move Marty around with the arrow keys and your left to select things with the mouse would be the most comfortable configuration for a left-handed gamer. If you're more familiar with gamepad controls, though, I suppose a 360 controller would be the way to go.
I also have an older Logitec rumble pad 2 that works great with the TTG games... but not so well with some other newer games out there.
I think he meant Windows 7, but yeah that also threw me off somewhat.
I do have a Super SmartJoy adapter to plug an SNES controller into my PC, but that really works best for old game ROMs.
I bought LEGO Harry Potter for PC, and I bet it would have a better feel with a controller than it does currently using WASD and UHJK keys. When I used my SNES controller with that game, it seemed to want me to assign values to more controls (ie. analog sticks) than the SNES controller actually has.
For BTTF though, I am perfectly content with the Click & Drag mouse controls for PC. I admit, Escape from Monkey Island still has me irked about using WASD in adventure games.
And if you don't want that because it's a marketing bullshit, there are several softwares you can use to make your PC believe any of your pads (even PS3 pads) ARE a 360 pad. And they work with every game.
Look for Xpadder, or just google "how to emulate 360 pad" .
Yup, thy work just fine.
Personally I would never even dream about controlling a character with wasd.
Especially as we already have cursor keys in a perfect arrangement to use for controls.
(with the added bons that you can feel their position on the keyboard, and so don't have to look, just because you are now playing a game that you can only control reasonable with the mouse about half the time)
Yeah I use Xpadder sometimes... its really nice... I know its sacrilege but I even sometimes set up my controller to use with old point and click games with Xpadder so I can just sit back under a blanket and play in a comfortable chair.
works pretty well with my big pen wireless ps3 pad. played hawx, dead rising 2 and some other games with it perfectly fine.

Well, I tried XPadder with my SNES controller, and it is a good program, but LEGO Harry Potter seems to be too smart for its own good. When I assign the controller to certain keyboard keys and tell the game that I'm controlling Player 1 with the keyboard, it assumes that when I use the controller, I am wanting to control Player 2 with it, and am therefore inadvertently controlling both players at the same time. Even when I assign player 2 to the keyboard again, when I drop player 2 out, it brings it back as soon as I use the controller again. *grrr*....
What I need is some way to keep the game from detecting my controller... or a controller that has enough controls with which I can satisfy the game properly. I was hoping I didn't have to buy one, but oh well.
