Ultimately I don't see the point in telling you why should like it. You are entitled to your own opinion and if you don't like it, then move on. I had a great time playing it from start to finish.
This is not to say that I found the game perfect. There was the odd bug that I found it bizarre slipped past quality control. Some of the puzzles were a little to easy and chapters to short.
All of those complaints mind you, are very minor. I had a blast.
Even if the game was easy, they SHOULD have been able to produce funny dialogs for the few actions that you can perform otherwise. Is it a stretch to say that Marty should react to trying to use newspapers in the recycling bins? That certain people deserve more than a "I don't think they'd be interested in that" comment when shown George's picture? Particularly, you know, George?
This is a very legitimate complaint. BttF is certainly Telltale's worst example as far as reactions to random actions go. Tales of Monkey Island in particular was awesome when it came to one-liners based on idiotic combinations, or simply examining things repeatedly.
And I think your conclusion is spot on; it was simply a matter of time.
That said, I did enjoy the season as a whole, but I do hope that season two will feel less rushed.
If you care about the game first and the license later, you should not play licensed games. It is evident that the spotlight of this series is to make a BTTF ideal fourth story. The videogame part comes much later, and the sooner you deal with it the better.
Honestly, how long can one keep repeating that the puzzles are easy and the action is limited? Yes it is, it looks and plays like a game for 6 years old. Those do exist and people still buy them.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I wonder if this was actually intended as a parody. I mean, the ending of OUTATIME is like something out of a bad Back to the Future SNL sketch...everything about the game is bad...could Telltale have been pulling the wool over our eyes?
Granted I don't see any real point to doing that since it gains them nothing, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn that that was the case after all.
It was likely a homage to the ending of BTTF. Everything's fixed and then "Oh no, here we go again...". Except Telltale took it way too far, naturally.
Rather Dashing, would it hurt you to be a little less insulting please? We all know you hate the game, but if you could cut back on the contempt for those who enjoyed it, it would be greatly appreciated.
I myself, actually quite enjoyed it. For the same reasons why I enjoyed things such as Yoda Stories or IJ and his Desktop Adventures. I'm currently working two jobs, and a problem is that I don't have much time to myself to game as much as I'd like to, which is why I found BttF to be a perfect fit for me. Currently available time for me is scarce. Being able to quickly play a game whilst doing other activities, whether it be washing clothes or cooking dinner, etc, is of importance to me, and I for one am grateful to the guys at Telltale.
You're basically saying you're happy that Telltale half-assed this game because you live a busy life. Any comparisons to Yoda Stories are not good ones (I enjoyed that game when I was 10, but it was anything but challenging, just mindless repetition...like BTTF). I expect more from games these days.
As for everyone who just said they liked BTTF and enjoyed it for that, then awesome. I enjoyed the BTTF part of it as well. My question is would the majority of you still enjoyed this game if it wasnt the BTTF cast? If it was just Larry and the Prof. time traveling in their Honda Civic? Established characters from a great movie series carried this game, not the game play.
BTTF is over and done. However, Telltale needs to hear complaints in hopes that they will work on their puzzles for future adventure game installments. They need to know how important it is to play a challenging game over just a linear story.

I was referring to the game as a whole as a parody, not just the ending of the last episode.

I think you raise a very good point here, Stoutfiles. About the only thing that kept me interested throughout the game were Marty and Doc. As an adventure game, it left alot to be desired.
I pretty much hold up any adventure game to "Day of the Tentacle" or the Interplay Star Trek games. I loved those games, still play them to this day. They were so engaging, and you really had some good thought provoking puzzles.
