Given a game disk - how do I activate the game?

I was given a game disk of the Wallace and Gromit games for my birthday, but it's telling me I need to unlock the games. How do I do that?

I can't really help you (way to start a post in reply to a problem ;) ), but people who can will probably need to know: do you have the blue cover version (regular retail version) or the light brown cover one (available from the Telltale Store)?

    It's a brown one

The Telltale Store version of Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures (the brown one) requires online activation (it's the only Telltale game DVD that does).

How do I do that? The game was a gift so I didn't buy it myself.

    I'm not sure.
I have the disc but haven't needed it as I own the downloadable version and I can't exactly check it as I no longer use a PC.
Your best bet is to contact customer service at support@telltalegames.com.
    Sorry I can't help you further. :(

You would need the person who gave you the gift to give you access to their Telltale account, which obviously they might not wish to do. Or perhaps they could persuade Telltale that they had bought it as a gift but forget to tick the relevant box on the purchasing page, so that Telltale could move the game from their account to a new one?
