Abe Lincoln Must Die again! [SM 1.04]

edited May 2012 in Sam & Max
Yes, it's that time again. (Thanks for writing these, Brendan!)

Did you…
…watch TV before decapitating the president?
…and twice while Max is running for president?
…and yet again after Max wins the election?
…shoot your gun out the office window?
…check in on Mr. Spatula the fish and Hubert the plant?
…use the bug on every speaking character?
…use the bug to call everyone BEFORE recording anything with it?
…(including Meesta Pizza, Sybil, Superball, AND Lincoln?)
…use the bug to call everyone with Lincoln’s voice?
…(including Sybil again after she’s been jilted?)
…mistranslate Whizzer in every possible way?
…talk to or try to shoot the president while Chuckles was gone?
…look at the trophy after the president loses his head?
…ask Lincoln each question with the "I did not have sex" cue card?
…ask Lincoln about toxic waste with the "Gimme all you got" card?
…use the nutcracker before AND after Max is elected?
...look at the valet parking sign after Max is elected?
…use the camera in the O.O. repeatedly after Max is elected?
…talk to Hugh Bliss again after Max is elected?
...ask Whizzer about the Dakotan conflict before anyone else?
…use the Secretary ribbon on every character, including Leonard?
...declare Superball the Secretary of the Interior?
…tell Superball to leave on each holiday? (Including April 1?)
...find the Easter egg?
…use the carbon dater on everything even vaguely organic?
…use the truth serum on every character?
…fire the monument at Bosco’s while holding the beacon?
…talk to Max in every location at various stages of the game?

    Did you...
...look at the small picture next to the trophy before and after decapitating the president?

Ooh, finally! Thanks, Emily & Brendan!

Even the second time around, I only managed to do half of these. So time for a third swing at Abe.
  • edited March 2007
Wow, and I thought I did quite a lot already...
  • edited March 2007
Well, I guess I share the same sentiment as everyone else here when I say that I didn't do half of that list.
  • edited March 2007
    haha,

I got serious laugh problem when I used the bug (with creepy voice) to call to the white house. :D

    thx for advice.

Did quite a few but this one's intriguing me

Anyone care to elaborate a little?

    It is a literal
    easter egg

    It's an actual Easter egg.
Pay attention to Sam & Max's exchange after changing the date to Easter.

    Fortunately, it's NOT a grenade.

Or maybe unfortunately. If it were a grenade, it might have been possible to program in an alternate ending where you blow Lincoln up with the "easter egg".

    Oh well.

Hey! You didn't include the one I found. :(
Find the alternate animations of the War Song.
Anyone who has played Zelda 64 would like that little attetion to detail you guys put in.

Ok, I'll bite: how on earth do you get to see them?
  • edited March 2007
    Simple.
Don't pick up the cue cards to use against Lincon.
You don't really need them anyway. You can also get a different Zelda 64-like animation if you
don't pick up the ribbon off the desk
    .

And if you don't know what I'm talking about, in Zelda 64 there is a part where
you have an opprotunity to mess with a NPC who runs the Fishing Pond. As an adult, link can "accidently" hook his hat while trying to fish. You then can sink his hat into the lake, forcing you to pay for it out of your pocket. However, during the credits when they show all the characters you've met, the NPC won't have his hat on as a result. The alternate animation is with the NPC's hat still on his head.

umm... I'm still really confused. Isn't the
"Two Rights Don't Make a Wrong"
card in that stack? and even so, how does not picking them up give you a different animation?
  • edited March 2007
The "Two Rights Don't Make a Wrong" card is not in the stack in the White House. It's actually behind the campaign slogan from the beginning.
    ;)

    I'm pretty sure it says
"Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right,"
    guys.

    Because
they will be in the background instead of just that stand being there all empty. Same goes for the ribbon, but I'm not sure about the calender.

I really don't think that's an Easter Egg or feature... the cutscenes aren't pre-rendered, so whatever was in the background initially will stay in the background. It's like saying the animation of Sam and Max walking out the door is different every time based on if you already picked up items from the background...

If you say so, but I saw it as a tribute to Zelda 64, be it intentional or not.

I really can't find the Easter Egg. I've looked all over the White House lawn. Where is it?

Edit: Found it. Ever notice how you always solve problems RIGHT AFTER you've gone and asked for help on a forum? It must be Hugh Bliss magic.

Vladimir Iljits Lenin ... uh... I mean... Boscovorski.

Also you probably noticed that Max´s campaign slogans were quite Hitlerish. You know the "ein Volk, ein Reich und ein Führer" -routine?

Yeah, that happens to me too...normally because I find the answer on the forum.

Episode 6 though, I've pledged not to use hints. I'm basically just having trouble with the sequence in which to solve things.
