My Steam backlog impressions
I have a LOT of Steam games, most of which I've never played. Now, I'm finally going to try them out. I'm going to post my impressions here, as I play them. Hopefully with screenshots.
These are all games I have never played before, except with the possible exception of demo versions. I'm only going to show the first level, so I can show as many in one post as I can.
1000 Amps: Puzzle game where you jump around in the dark until you touch lights. I don't know if it was just the early part in the game going too easy, but I honestly had no desire to play this any more just a few minutes after I started. Also, doesn't use the Steam overlay, so no screenshots.
A.R.E.S.: ...Failed to start. After uninstalling and redownloading...
It works.
Well, this is clearly Mega Man. I love Mega Man, so this should be good.
Not even ten seconds into the level itself, and I've already unlocked something.
After a bit of platforming, it's locked me in a room, that I'm presuming is going to be filled with-
OH GOD IT'S ON MY HEAD
After that's done with, it gives me a crafting menu, which I have no use for at this point in the game:
After a few more minutes of platforming(sorry, this game is quite hard, so it's a bit hard to screenshot while playing), it locks me into another room with this thing:
Then later, into a room with these things:
And this thing, which kills me:
I return the favor and get a D grade:
My screenshots don't do it justice, but this was actually quite fun. It plays a lot like Mega Man X. I'll probably play this again.
But now, I have the next game on the list, the one some of us got for free last summer: Alien Breed 2. I'll save that for the next post.

The next game I tried, Altitude, was quite fun, although the multiplayer focus made screenshots impossible.
I then tried a much slower game, which actually resulted in a ton of screenshots. So here we go...with this thing.
In the opening level, I'm playing a dying tribal chief possessed by a kind spirit.
Hours later, he died of a tragic accident at the tribe's monthly Jumping Lunch Karate tournament.
And, a bit of simple platforming away, we have this giuy bowing to his rock god:
Because of his blasphemy, I proceed to beat the crap out of him:
Next, I find a guy I can pick up:
And... chew on?
Oh god, am I going to be a cannibal?
...No, it doesn't let me swallow him. He's staying where he is, though.
And up a ladder:
Yes, I know exactly what to do. I must...
SACRIFICE MY FELLOW MAN.
...Aww, even the enemy doesn't want him. But anyway, the solution:
So after I meet this masochist:
And a bunch of Spore rejects:
I die, which marks the end of my first try of this game:
There's some kind of "revival" fetch quest after, but that's all I'm going to play for now.
This was...average. Not something I see myself going back to, but not really bad, either.
Coming up: Mermaid assassins from Avadon.
