TWD: Ep. 2 - download keeps stopping

Hey Guys,

I am running The Walking Dead video game on a Mac and am having a hard time downloading the second episode. It keeps saying my internet is cutting out, even though I know that my internet is working fine. When it "cuts out", it starts me back at 1%….

What should I do?

contact TTG?

I emailed the support email for TTG, but judging by their communication skills with the delay, I don't expect great support service.

I have the same problem, the download works fine until 81% when I get the same message about my internet connection not working properly.

I exactly have the same problem, connection gets down at 81% completion ... I cannot not wait playing the second season, help !!!!!

Same here and it's annoying! I have tried on different internet connection but it stops all the time! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! We have payed for the game ffs!

I get exactly the same error message at 81% time after time. Also on OS X.

I have exactly the same issue. Internet connection disconnects, when I'm clearly still online. I bought the full game on Mac before release and I can't download episode 2.

And the fact that I'm playing on a Macbook Air is also annoying as the fans are blowing hard while I'm downloading. This solution for getting future episodes is very bad indeed.

No it is time to help us here! SERVICE PLEASE?!

Is it possible to contact support? Can someone try and contact TTG and have them respond in this thread?

I've got the same issue on my PC. I've been trying to download since Saturday and I'm finally up to 48%. At first it would get up to 2% and then fail, dropping back to 1%. After more or less constantly trying to download, I got up to 15%, 32% and finally 48%, with many, many many failed attempts that didn't progress at all.

I have a slow connection, but I can stream from YouTube and download other files without any issues.

Hell, I have this same problem with the PS3 version of the download-Too many times it wouldn't even let me start downloading in the first place after I had just purchased it about 20 minutes ago, so I'd shut off my PS3 or disable my wireless connection (Sony's recommendation) and try again... Same thing happens. Another problem is after waiting for a while on the download screen, it would actually start, but then when I'd go to check the download status, it would just stop at 2% (18 mb). I'd like to know why people across all platforms are having the same problems?! Shouldn't this have been thoroughly tested on all platforms many times before release?

Maybe I'm a foolish mortal who's tiny brain cannot fully grasp the concept of logical thought... This is not the case, so I'm here to point the finger at Telltale's staff *Point* and say WTF?!?!?!

I'm on a PS3. Have no idea why it posted the first one without even letting me know it had posted successfully... Sorry for a duplicate post.
  • edited July 2012
Ok, so it's at 69% at the time of this post, so far so good... I just hope it finishes and I don't have any of the gameplay issues everyone else has been talking about...

Same problem, keeps stopping at 73%.

TElltale, please sort this out, I paid for this game?

SO UPSET!!! Same problem with downloading episode 2!!! 81% and that's it but last time it shows me a finger by saying "quite unexpectedly"!!! What the HELL is wrong with your App guys!!! Almost 30 paid for NOTHING!!! Better to download it from torrent for FREE and play without any headache! Telltale Games DO SOMETHING!!!! Maybe Steam copy works better? Any thoughts?

I'm having the same issues. Mac OSX. get to anywhere from 2% to 30% downloaded and it cuts out saying i lost my connection. Fix it up TTG. This is garbage.

Good question anonymous, I never have a problem downloading anything via Steam. Telltale, how about providing Steam passes for those of us who are experiencing the problem?
  • edited July 2012
So I am wasting bandwidth and time trying to repeatedly download a game that I paid for yet I can't access.

Telltale, are you going to do anything? Can't we just download the exe from the website or something because your current solution is broken.

I've emailed support today. I'll let you know if i get a reply.

Also emailed support. I think we can all hold on the emails-they probably know that there is an issue. Now whether they fix it is a matter of their own corporate ethics.

Any ideas how to get money back??? Coz I get another copy from STEAM and it works just fine and it's 10usd cheaper!!!

Same problem here on OS X. :(

My internet connection is fine, never had any problems. But the download of Ep2 always stops at about ~27%.

Why can't we simply download a new Episode using a web browser like it was with MI and Back to the Future.

Same problem here and I'm running Windows

It has been a week and still no response from the support over at Tell Tale Games. This company sucks. I am probably going to try and get a refund if this doesn't get resolved soon.

Yeah, I was sent exactly that answer via email. The annoying this is 1) I don't have a screen saver and 2) I have a 100Mb connection that is completely stable!

    This was their answer!

    Hey James,

We are aware that a number of MAC users are experiencing this issue with completing the download of episode 2 and are currently working on a fix that should resolve the issue. In the meantime, please ensure that you have a strong and stable connection to the internet when trying to download. Also, anything that causes the game to lose focus, including a screen saver, may also cause the download to stop.

I apologize for the frustration and inconvenience that this may cause and we are looking to resolve it as soon as possible so you can enjoy your game as intended.

    Thank you for your patience,
    Eric

Same problem here~ those who encountered the same issue should raise their concern here so TTG will know it's not just a "small percentage" of users, claimed by TTG responders, who's unable to download ep 2... It's seems like more than just a few of us.....

I finally managed to finish downloading Episode 2!! But now it seems to have lost everything from Episode 1. I can either generate random decisions or play Ep 1 again.

Agreed. For every post we see here on the forums, who knows how many people we represent. Most people won't bother posting.

Hey guys this seemed to work for after a few hours of frustrating connection lost messages. I am running latest IOS 5 firmware (haven't taken the time to update to 6 yet) on an iPhone 4. Should work with other IOS devices.

    1. Quit all apps especially those that might utilize any data.
    2. SET "AUTO-LOCK SCREEN" TO "NEVER" (should be general settings)
    3. Connect your phone to a power source, i used a speaker dock in order to hear the nature sounds from the game. That way i know it was still downloading.
    4. Wait an effing long time. ( i think mine took like 2 hours.)

This worked for me after many failed attempts, i hope it helps someone here.

    thanks.
