Problem with Episode 2 (PS3)

In episode 2, for one of my save files, I chose to bring Travis back to the camp (instead of the guy in the bear trap). When he turns into a zombie and grabs my face, I start rapidly pressing X (as indicated on the screen), but then, right after Larry or Mark tells me to get out of the way so they can kill him, I keep getting killed. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I keep trying every button, but I don't get him off me, I just keep dying over and over again. (This happens after I crawl out of the car and land on the ground; he grabs me; I rapidly press X; then after I'm told to get out of the way so I don't get hit with the axe, I can't push him off. What am I supposed to do? I don't know if it's a game bug or if I'm doing something wrong, but it's preventing me from continuing.

    This is the time when Mark tells you to get out of the way to slice him with the axe, right? Aim left or right with the controller to get Travis out of the way so that Mark can kill him.
