TWD: All 3 of my saves are gone

I'm on mac playing on the steam version. I just opened the game and it started in a small windowed mode. my saves are gone

what could have caused this, is there anything I can do?

They need to make a post explaining how to fix this, for people like me who still have their old save files still but the game won't fucking recognize them.

Same issue, nobody from Telltale seems to care enough to give us any statement though.

Jep...got the same problem. The game started in window-mode and all my savegames are gone  The old savegamefiles are still in the savegamefolder, but the game wont recognize them.
    I use Windows 7.

Please fix the problem. I dont want to start from the beginning again.

ps: my english is not the best, so i hope you understand everything

I have the same issue. I play on the PS3. I lost ALL my 3 save files. I had around 16+ hours invested in all of the saves so far. Now I have to start all over again -_-. I was just doing my silent playthrough looking for easter eggs and it said 'save file corrupted'. Then next time I looked, all saves gone. It pissed me off. Telltale, please fix this shit. I have 16+ hours of TWD to make up.

I think if you make 3 save files you lose all of them. So I'm just going to make 2 save files, and rewind in my second save file to play different shit out.

Same exact thing happened to me. I too am on Windows 7, opened game, it started in windowed mode with low resolution, changed the settings to full screen with max resolution, went to download the episode 3 from the game menu but all my saves are not there. It just says "Play" and everything says "new game" with no option to load and no save games visible in game. Yet my saves are all there in the my documents/tell tale games/the walking dead folder. Please someone help! Thank you!

My saves got reverted, after I spent a good 3 - 4 hours finishing episode 2. Now Save 1 is back to episode 1. My other save slots are all empty now.

This wouldn't even be half as aggravating if the game wasn't so drawn out and it didn't force you to sit through so much cinematics and dialogue every time.

Before I booted the game back up and found out my saves were reverted or missing, I'd tried to start episode 3, but somehow both it and episode 2 only said 'coming soon'. The save file seemed to know that I'd finished episode 2, though, because it skipped right to episode 3 when I selected the save in the menu.

I wonder if failing to validate that we have the episodes is why it reverts / wipes our saves. Why it would do this, I have no idea. It isn't like some draconian DLC protection, since on PC we all had to buy all the episodes at once, so if we had Ep 1 then obviously we have the rights to all the other ones too.

I'm thinking I should put in for a refund and wait a year or two until they have this thing sorted out.

if i would know that replaying episode 1 & 2 would fix that bug i would do that, but if that happens again, i just lost another 6 hours playing this broken game...

Also i have the fear that if telltale comes up with a bugfix (yeah sure..), replaying now would overwrite the save (which isn't gone, it's just not recognized by the game..)

    Guys, try this!

Make a backup of your The Walking Dead folder in your My Documents first. Go to your my documents folder\telltale games\the walking dead, "right-click on prefs.prop, click "Properties," then click on the tab called "Previous Versions" and then pick a version of prefs.prop from before the Episode 3 update (at least several days ago, preferably up to two weeks ago)." I for example found one from July 1st, and that's what I chose. Restore it to that previous day. Then load up the game and your most recent save from when you finished Ep 2 should be there, along with your stats.

This fix was found by user 'bazenji', and here is the post: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=664534#post664534
It's the 11th post down. I can confirm this worked for me when nothing else did!

Oh good I'm so happy, Knarfenstein! I wish it would work for everyone, but unfortunately it seems this is happening to so many people for slightly varying reasons :( I guess each case is different, but there are a few fixes out there. I just wish Telltale worked as hard as the rest of us to find something to truly fix this once and for all =/ Now I have to be worried about Ep 4

Comment #12 saved me, just make sure to read all the directions before starting the process. Including the addition. not sure if it works through steam or mac.
