TWD: The Walking Dead won't launch

As soon as the new update for episode 3 came out, my game updated fine and I went to launch it. First time I tried to launch it I got a crash, and all of the following times I attempted to launch the game after that, nothing even pops up. Steam will say "Preparing to launch..." and then nothing happens.

I've reinstalled the game and I still have the same problem. Any tips/fixes for this?

Days later and it still won't launch. Is there a fix for this?

    Windows says it's "Incompatible Application"

I'm running Windows 7 so I have no idea what the problem is.

After updating to chapter 3 I cannot start TWD. I get a message "WalkingDead101.exe has stopped working" every time I try to start it.

    I have tried:

    removing my saves
uninsatalling/reinstalling TWD, including deleting its Steam folder, twice.
running without Steam client, rebooting, barking at the moon etc.

    Fix needed...

Thanks for mentioning there IS support somewhere here! I looked in all the conventional places for support, like grouped with TWD forums etc. Shame on me for looking under "...and Help" section for help.

FOR OTHER FIRST TIMER USERS HERE LOOKING FOR *SUPPORT* CLICK THE FOLLOWING LINK:

    http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25

Also if you scroll to the bottom of "Telltale Games Forums", and look directly below "Support: Home of Tears", you'll see "Game Support". Yeah, I know.

So, I've set my, MINIMUM XP requirement game that ran fine under Win7 until chapter 3, to 98/ME compatibility and it runs. Go figure.

And now I await with rapt anticipation for what genuflexion I'll need to perfom to play chapter 4.

Please describe which problem you have, then follow the instructions to run the Support Tool and attach the resulting "support_data.zip" to your next reply in this thread.

    Hi,
I have similar problem. Why TTG is not describing this problem properly and providing a solution? I just want to play with my control pad this game.

My problem is TWD game not launched on Steam when the control pad is connected. I used to do this in Win7, now I have Win8. I reinstalled game several times recently with no luck.

    Please provide help.
    regards,

Windows 8 is currently not an officially supported platform.

We do not support Windows 8 at this time. We are looking into supporting this system for future releases, but our current library only supports up to Windows 7.

There is an unofficial workaround though, that involves copying a certain Win7 dinput8.dll verions into the games install folder.
