Imminent death after checkpoint in Episode 3 (PLEASE HELP)

Soon after the reload for the zombie in the car that you can unbuckle and choose to kill takes place - I cant seem to attack him since it wont op for that then death arrives. Anyone else have this encounter? i only have the one save and im really not wanting to start my story over. hence :(

    You could use the "rewind" feature to restart the chapter.
