Your telltale account does not currently have a license.....

Okay, I pre-ordered all 5 episodes, and have downloaded/played the first 3 with NO problem....yet, this time when I went to download episode 4, it says "YOUR TELLTALE ACCOUNT DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A LICENSE FOR THIS GAME. WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TO THE TELLTALE GAMES WEBSITE TO PURCHASE THE GAME NOW?". What the hell?? Cant get a reply through email and/or telltale on facebook....anybody got a clue???

Was just going on to post that. Same thing is happening to me.

*Doesn't come up with this anymore. Now I just click on it and it immediately says I have no internet connection which makes me going online and writing on this powered by my own inner magic.

Same thing here as well. If I have to hazard a guess I would say the servers are breaking under the load of everyone downloading episode 4.

    Am I close?

Actually the download rate is consistently high when you download them as highlighted in this thread: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33233

Ah, alright, must be something else then. I really would like to play the game tonight. :-(

Same issue. Was able to get to the main menu several times intermittently, but in trying to fix the other issue of not being able to download Episode 4 it's now no longer working at all.

Btw, just because the episode downloads are fast doesn't mean their auth servers aren't swamped and/or not working correctly. The episodes are coming from a cdn, so it's likely you're dling them from some place down the road a few miles away.

    same

Same issue here. Seems like there are multiple threads for the same issue. I tried reinstalling the game thinking it may be some quirk with the old but no luck. This is a pretty BS problem...I mean a lot of people are having this issue. Seems like most people with PC version. TTG, please get your $hit together. THANK YOU! :)

Same here, this really sucks. :/

    Same here.

Sometimes I can actually get thru, but when I want to DL eps 4 it say at 0.00% that I lost connection to the server. So I think it is a server problem.

    PC version, Europe user.

the walking dead episode 4 "coming soon" button still there for me...

*ah i fixed this by reinstalling the game* (for the 5th time lol)

I'm at work right now so I can't check, but has the "No license" bug gone away? Can anyone confirm please?
  • edited October 2012
    Still there

Getting the no license bug too.

Game loads. Says click to continue. I click, then it says i have no license and then nothing does anything so i have to force quit.

    Very annoying.

For what it's worth, this is now happening to me too (PC, Windows).

Up until now, my issue has been the 0% loaded/no internet connection bug. I tried some of the direct download fixes, but, well, now I'm encountering this one. (If it's not one thing, it's another.)

PLEASE address this, Telltale, I was really looking forward to playing this today (well, yesterday). It's getting difficult poking around the internet to get tech support advice without also stumbling onto Episode 4 spoilers.

Now i get seemingly randomly either the no license error or it lets me in and when i try and download ep4 it says i have no internet connection and it sticks on 0%.

All other episodes worked fine with no issues at all. I'm on PC in the UK.

Some sort of response from TTG would be nice...

got mine to work with with the help of the unofficial dl http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33233

Will be rooting for you guys

That was the first thing I tried two nights ago and it caused the "no license" error.

I was reading another thread in this forum about Walking Dead issues and thought it would probably be helpful if I posted more information about the error I'm getting:

I'm on Windows 7 and bought the game from Telltale's site. I was unable to download episode 4 via the downloader (No Internet Connection error, referenced fairly commonly in other forum threads) so I downloaded the Episode 4 files through thread #33233.

I put them in, start up The Walking Dead, and was able to get the game to recognize the files. I click "Play" and crash onto the desktop "Walkingdead#1 has stopped working" error. I start up the game again and it's now telling me my account does not have a license for this game.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and as far as I can tell installing Episode 4 via the manual download is what is causing the "No License" error. I can download and play Episode 1 - 3 just fine, but I can't download Episode 4 in-game and when I do it manually the game locks me out. I've tried removing the Walking Dead folder from %UserProfile%Documents/Telltale Games and that removed the "No License" error once for me (I couldn't play Episode 4 after that because I removed the files from the folder so that didn't actually help).

If an admin needs more information from me I'll do my best to supply it, but I hope with a detailed explanation of what is wrong and how I troubleshot it we can get a response from Telltale.

I went from crashing upon launch to not having a license so I guess that was TTG's progress making this work today. Yippee.

Okay I got Episode 4 working. If you have a firewall and anti-virus software make sure they're not blocking WalkingDead101.exe. I have Comodo so I marked it as trusted in the firewall and safety defense. I also marked it in Microsoft Security Essentials as "Ignore". I then downloaded the files for Episode manually and put it in both %UserProfiles%Documents/Telltale Games/The Walking Dead/etc... and Program Files(x86)/Telltale Games/The Walking Dead/etc. You can find the correct location in this thread:

    http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35870

Hope this works for you guys. :-)

I have exactly same problem like the rest of you guys. I will try to apply fix in murnshaw's post. Hopefully that'll work.

Still, it is an issue that I hope it will be adressed

I'm having this problem with getting Episode 1 working let alone Episodes 2-4!
I pre-ordered the full season way back and have had the same problem since first release. I decided to wait a little while to see if the bugs get worked out, but low and behold Episode 1 still isn't working.

The problem is that it never asks for my Telltale account details, so why is it telling me that my account doesn't have license when it doesn't even know what account to verify with???

I've uninstalled, deleted folders, re-downloaded and reinstalled, but again it never asks for my Telltale account details.

I found a way to fix this that doesnt involve a reinstall. My problem happened after the program would lock up or crash (mostly while downloading episodes). Upon force killing it and restarting it, I would be presented with the "no license" message for ever after. Until I tried to reset which account was bound to the application. To do that all you have to do is:

    1. open up regedit
    2. do a search for telltale, keep pressing F3 (find next match) until you hit a key that looks like: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telltale Games
    3. in there you'll see a sub folder called Launcher
    4. within that are two keys named "login" and "pwd". delete these
    5. relaunch the app, re-enter your user and pass and be happy
  • Thank you kevin!
    I'll try your fix tonight.
BTW, i too noticed that the problem started after quitting the game by force.

Thanks Kevin! Your solution totally worked. I got my pizza and beer ready and sat down to play 400 Days only to discover this error. You saved the night!

Here are easier instructions to delete the Login data from the registry.

    First, open a command window.
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "cmd" and press enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the Windows key. Type in "cmd" and press enter
Windows 8: At the start screen, type in "cmd" and press enter

Then copy the command line below and paste it into the command window, press enter, and confirm the question:
    REG DELETE "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telltale Games\Launcher"
