TWD: Lost my saved files

I already beat Episode 4 so I wanted to start a new game and make seperate choices and after I beat episode 2 the game crashed. I did not think anything of it so I had to alt tab out to close the program. When I went back to the main screen to play my second playthrough I was stumped because it was asking for if the game wanted to show me the hints and stuff which was odd because that is what happens when you start over at episode 1. When I clicked on whatever it showed that my saved files were gone.
What happened?
Did I really just erase my saved files somehow?
Has this happened to anyone else and if so is it fixable or do I have to go back to episode 1 AGAIN and play through the episodes all over again?
