Can't play episode 4; says I don't have episode 1

I bought episode 4 about a week and a half ago and when I went on today for the first time to play it, dl'ed the update and went to continue my game I couldn't. It says I don't have episode 1 installed and need to buy it from the store even though I have it. It says 2 3 and 4 are installed but not 1. What should I do?

Btw I never got any message about a corrupted save file. I didn't even buy episode 4 until about the 18th or 19th, days after the patch came out.

Exact same thing happened to me. Everything's downloaded but it thinks that I only have the demo version of Episode 1 and wants for me to purchase the Season Pass again. When I contacted Telltale Games for support, here is the full response I received -

"Please try returning to the PSStore and starting over. You should not receive a second charge for this."

I SHOULD not? That's a pretty weak reply. On the PS Store normally there's a red shopping bag icon next to an item as an indicator that it's been purchased, but there's no such icon next to the Season Pass. So I've contacted Sony to see if I really can download it again without being charged again.

I really wish that SOMEONE at Telltale would explain just what the hell happened with the Episode 4 snafu.

Does the season pass show up in your dl list? If not you may have to buy it again unless sony takes care of you. I bought the episodes separately and they're all in my dl list except the 1st one. I don't even mind paying 5 bucks for it, just want to make sure I don't have to start the game over is all so I'm waiting to hear from Telltale before I do anything.

When you choose to download Episode 1 there will be 2 files listed, a demo and a key. If you only installed the game content, you will still need to install the key, or vice versa. Please ensure you have both of these files downloaded and installed.

No offense but did you even read my post? If I hadn't done that I wouldn't have been able to play up to episode 4.

To EclipseGryph and anyone else with this issue, I wrote to Sony about this and it looks like it's a problem for people that dl'ed episode 1 for free with ps plus and had their ps plus expire since then. I got a free 30 day trial of it with a game I bought and got episode 1 for free with it but when it ran out after 30 days I didn't renew so episode 1 is not in my dl list anymore. If you got it for free the 1st time you gotta buy it now basically. Hope this helps some people.

btw it shouldn't mess up ur game save I was told

This explains a lot. Ep1 was off the Playstation+ so Now even though I bought the season pass (for eps 1-5 --NOT 2-5!!) I'm having to buy ep1 separately. Total BS but still better to have some information and not just crickets churping at my urgent question!

You do not need to buy Episode 1 if you purchased the Season Pass. The unlock key that is currently associated with Episode 1 is linked to an expired PS+ membership. Uninstall Episode 1 and then reinstall the game content and the unlock key (which will be associated with your Season Pass purchase) and you should be able to continue your game. Reinstalling Episode 1 should not affect your save game.

If you have any question regarding the Instant Game Collection or how ownership of these games works through PS+, please contact Sony Support.
