Saved Carly, yet the game kills her in the "Previously on The Walking Dead"

As stated in the title, I saved Carly, she was even there during the motel epilogue. Yet as soon as I start Episode 2 the game says I killed her and gives me Doug instead even though he should be dead.

This is unacceptable in a game that mainly revolves around the choices I've made during the game.

I googled but found no fixes or similar experiences. I don't want to spend all the time replaying the chapter again, especially not if I just get this bug again...

This is a gamebreaking issue.

Playing the Steam version on English Windows 7.

Would love to hear a fix or that you at least are working on it.

Please check to make sure you do not have more than 1 prefs.prop file. To do this, look in your Documents\Telltale Games folder and if you see a Gamedata folder, remove it. Also, since you are playing on Steam, find your Steam directory, then navigate to steamapps\common\the walking dead and look through these folders to make sure you do not have a prefs.prop file in this directory. If you do, remove that one file.

Once this is done, you should be able to carry over your choices correctly.

I found this after posting this ticket, it fixed the problem for me, but I still have to do it every time I change chapters, I will try your solution next chapter.

You really should patch this into the game files so it doesn't create duplicates and load the wrong one, can't be that hard to fix.

I just started up my game this evening thinking it was time for Episode 4, except the game hasn't saved a thing and still believes me to be in Episode 1.

This is it Telltale, fix this or I am never purchasing a title from you ever again.

It's a shame, because this is a damned good game, but I'm not the only one with this issue. Downright sad that this hasn't been fixed 4 episodes into the game in my opinion, what's the point of a decision-based game when decisions are not kept.

At the very least add a sandbox mode so we can pick decisions from previous chapters to re-create our savegame ourselves. I don't want to sit through 3 hours of unskippable cutscenes just to get back where I was.

Same thing happened to me right when episode 2 came out. I shelved the game and only recently came back. I figured maybe I had a corrupted save due to a bug or something, but by now episode 4 is out and SURELY THE GAME SHOULD BE FIXED BY NOW. Nope, same problem just tonight! I read about copying over the prefs.prop file from steamapps to mydocs, and the problem is fixed. But seriously, how could this bug be around for so long and not be fixed properly? And now I get the feeling that this is going to happen every episode? I feel cheated buying the game at full price. Never again.

EDIT - to clarify, I started the game over on a newly reformatted system between my first game and most recent game. Same bug happened both times.

    Hello MattP,

I have the same issue, but I am on a MAC.

    How should I proceed?

    Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, another costumer already fixed my problem.

As stated above, this is totally unacceptable in a game that revolves around the user's choices. It look like I'll have to replay Ep. 1 and then shuffle the saves around to get to have my correct settings and move on. What a waste of time! How can this not be fixed yet, Telltale?
