Windows 8 Tablet, No escape key

Any idea how I can get back to the main menu without a keyboard?

I'm playing this on a windows 8 tablet, which works well... until you want to save and exit for the day.

If you can run multiple programs at once on your tablet, you might want to try a key mapper that has mouse mapping support. These programs let you assign the functions of any key on the keyboard to a mouse button.
