I cannot remember if this exactly right, but in "Abe Lincoln must die"Sam and Max imply that Max does date, in his own psychotic way. I believe it was something like this:
Max states that he is against the use of datingservices and prefers the "old fashioned way". To which Sam replies:'What, a chloroform drenched rag and a dark alley?' After that max replies something like:'What can I say, I'm set in my ways.'
So that does imply that Max dates, so he cannot be entirely asexual.
Sam: The pool of decadence.
Max: Bring me as many naked women as my poor eyes can stand!
Sam: Jesus, Max, you don't even like girls.
Max: Oh yeah, I forgot.
It still is though, isn't it? I don't think the alley has a name in 201.
The old alley never had a name. It was just a dead end that held the Desoto, Lefty's Tool Rental, and Sybil's. Thanks to the redesign, Lefty's is officially gone and Sybil's has been moved to Narrow. Narrow is now the new dead-end alley.
I'm going to be a pain and be pedantic. I always considered the street that had Lefty's, Sybil's, etc. to be a dead-end street. I consider the alley to be where the dumpster was (between Sam&Max's building and where Hugh Bliss sold his books).

or Dead End.
The new one in Season 2 is Narrow.
Everyone else seems to live on Straight Street.
Will that finally quash those gay Max rumors?
Eep...

It was before the redesign.
That brings up the other popular theory: Max gets replaced every few years
