TWD - Options switch back and forth

When trying to select an option, the menu list goes crazy and won't let me select anything but the preselected option. It goes back and forth between normal xbox control (press start, x,b,a,y) to what it should be (click to continue and normal clicking options.) It is impossible to play since I can't select anything because my pc game thinks I'm using an xbox controller. I've tried to get into the settings, but I can't get into it, since the only option it will allow me to select is "play".

I've already tried to delete and uninstall it. Download it again, but nothing will work. I don't know how to fix this. Please help.

    I managed to get into the settings and into the control's settings. The page literally flickers back and forth between the picture of a mouse and it's controls and the picture of a game controller and the corresponding controls. Why is this happening?

    If you have an xbox controller plugged in, but are not using it, please disconnect it before you launch the game.

    I do not have anything plugged in. I don't even own an xbox to begin with.
