Broken Steam Overlay?

In Poker Night, I have no in-game overlay. Also, I believe when an item is about to be offered in the game, it just sends me back to the main menu (Play game instead of new game). This is kinda annoying because I really want the items... I'm hoping that fixing the first problem will also fix the second. Any ideas?

    Odd... I just opened tf2, and I got all of the items... I feel cheated though because I didn't EARN them. I'm still having problems with the overlay though, any help out there?
