Episode 5 savegame corrupt (PC)

Heya! Steam version, played through 1-4 fine, didn't actually expect there to be problems but since it's so early after release of ep 5, it's not really fine but, what can ya do.

Save's corrupt to hell, lessee. Wanted to start ep 5 today, game crashes on starting it (walkingdead101.exe)

tried to start again game said "wanna create crap for missing eps" (after completing 4 the previous night)

Me: The f00p?

played through ep 4 ending again (I got a scare when i saw the last save name "clementines discovery" which made me think i had to do all that crap at the school again) but was very relieved when it got me straight to the ending with the cap 'n the zombie 'bit' get it? xD

So then i do get to chapter 5 after tediously waiting for the credits to roll whilst watching gaki no tsukai on the background. had to put the game in a window to do that.

Jaws were dropped when christa told lee that they weren't coming and kenny just going *DENIED* when asked, when just previously (in actuality) we were all standing at the morgue talking to the bad guy. At least Ben was there. Good old ben, eh? *rollseyes*

It was like in prince of persia sands of time "no wait... THAT didn't happen"

Tried restarting saves were disappearing, moving, mutating, there were tentacles.
It was all really nasty business, tried fixing it, and luckily it's still there! at least my ep 4 ending i think is. made backup of steam and documents savecrap. Nothing in /public though.

Here's waiting for a fix! Unless anyone has a working save i could place somewhere that'd have

- Lee pretty friendly with Kenny, saved the kid, kid thought lee was awesome, helped his family. killed the duck. helped kenny by letting him kill the other one (couldn't convince kenny to come with unless using option 3 "clem's my family")

- Sided with Lilly once and a while, tried to save her dad, let her back on the RV after the execution (tried my best to get her to shoot ben but no cigar)

- didn't kill brothers or steal from the car

- Stayed friendly with clementine but tried to tell her that her parents were most likely dead.

- saved ben which was the most difficult of all moral choices.

Actually, how about you guys at telltale just make a save game editor/generator i can just fill these in :P

Oh and terribly sorry for the wall of text, I tend to babble.

I'm happy to help, but I want to make sure I understand your issue.

So after you tried to start Episode 5, the game crashed and now prompts for random choices when you try to load it? However you did play Episode 5 and now your choices are different? Also, can you please clarify when you say nothing is in Public, do you mean your saves are not located in the proper directory?

If you can clarify a little, I'll try to help you work through this issue.

Terribly sorry! Real busy during the working week.

Indeed it did prompt for random choices - at first. When i replayed the end of ep4 again to try to rewrite the save, I was able to start the episode that time without prompt, but it basically chose the worst option for me, where only ben comes along. Only those choices seemed to be corrupt though. All my previous choices were shown correctly until that point, in the "previous episode" part.

by "public" i mean that there are cases where saves of the games are in multiple directories, some in your profile and/or some in the public user's + steam. In my case i'm happy to report, that's not the issue messing it up.

I googled a bit before this and there's a few o' these cases around, but sometimes switching the "physical" save files' folders over from steam to /documents/the walking dead or vice versa - syncing them, you could fix the issue as the game supposedly didn't know where to read the save from and opts for whatever is default.

Didn't work though, obviously. :p Seemed logical at the time though, don't know if it might be a cloud issue or something? ;I
