Walking Dead Suddenly Doesn't Launch

PC (Windows 7)
Steam Version

I bought The Walking Dead yesterday and happily played through episodes 1 and 2 and most of 3 with no problems. Today, when I tried to boot it up and continue, I'm getting the "WalkingDead101.exe has stopped working" message immediately on start-up. I tried just launching it over and over, and every so often I can get it to launch, but the settings are reset to defaults and my save is gone.

So I tried the "prefs.prop" fix where I copy it into Pack/default.
I've also tried the one where you revert to a previous version of prefs.prop in Properties, but no previous versions exist.
I've tried verifying the game cache.
I've tried rebooting Steam and my machine several times.
I've tried running the application as an administrator.
I've tried troubleshooting the compatibility, but I get the "run from the right directory/could not be recovered"

Now I get the "WalkingDead101.exe has stopped working" and I can't even get it to launch every 15 times like it did before.

I just installed this yesterday and had absolutely no problems until today. I stopped playing on Episode 3 before Lee and Clem investigate the train station.

Have you tried changing compatibility to win 98/me?

Yes. Sometimes I can launch the game, but it still doesn't keep my settings and still doesn't read my save. I don't want to play the whole game just to have this happen again. I didn't even own this game for 24 hours before this happened.
