Walking Dead does not start, Win7, Steam (Merged Threads)
I just bought the game from Steam and finished installing it with no problem. I verified that the game's local isn't damaged. All my other games are working fine. The directx file for the game has also been installed.
The game doesn't launch. When I attempt to launch it, the computer thinks for awhile, but nothing happens. After about 10 seconds, the game syncs its data with Steam, which suggests that the game closed itself.
I am running on Win7 with an nVidia GeForce GT 540M (through nVidia Optimus).

I've recently purchased The Walking Dead through Steam, but I can't get it to even launch. Whenever I attempt to play it, it appears as if nothing happens; Steam says I'm playing for about 5-10 seconds, but the game never launches. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit. Here's what I've tried:
- Run as Administrator
- Run in Compatibility mode
- Disabled internet connection
- Run with a clean boot (disabled all third party services except for Steam)
- Unplugged all USB Devices (except for mouse and keyboard)
- Added dinput8.dll
- Manually run DXSETUP
Here's the error from Windows Event Viewer:
And here's my dxdiag:

Have you restarted the system since installing the game?
I have seen the ntdll issue 2 times recently, here and here, and a while ago here. I don't know a fix though.
One user had success with running in compatibility mode for win95 or win98/me specifically.
I do notice that these values are the same, so it always crashes at the same point.
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17725
Exception code: 0xc0000374
Fault offset: 0x000ce6c3
I do have the same ntdll version and don't get the crash, so that's at least something.
Also, please post your dxdiag info.

I've recently downloaded the Walking Dead game for my computer through Steam and it does not start up. It will go from the launching notice, my little avatar will light green indicating that I'm playing it for about ten seconds, and then go blue indicating that I'm not playing the game anymore. I've attempted to do all of the troubleshooting I've been able to find, and yet nothing is working. Please help me fix this. If you need me to provide any other specifications, I will be happy to do so. I attempted contacting Steam, but they directed me to information I already attempted utilizing, so I'm kind of stuck.
Thanks for your time.
Here's some requests to those who haven't done so yet:

Please try unplugging all Non-Essential USB devices.
Since it at least tried to start the first time, you might also benefit from deleting the savegame folder ( %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead ).
Hi All,
I had the same issue as described above. I checked with the eventviewer as described above and found out that the issue came from DINPUT8.dll which belongs to DirectX. I installed the newest version of DirectX and copied DINPUT8.dll in the ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Walking Dead Folder as well as in the ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Walking Dead\DirectX Folder. After this The Walking Dead worked perfectly..
I am running Windows 8, 64Bit.
