Steam/TWD - Black Screen on Loading

I was in the middle of playing episode 3 when the game crashed on me and I was forced to close out of the walking dead.

When I went back into continue the game I get a black screen instead of a loading screen that won't go away. I still have my cursor and that's responsive, but there's nothing else to do.

Any ideas?

When do you get the black screen?
After the "click to continue" screen, or later, when you load a savegame?

I've got the same problem, whenever I want to load a game when I click on continue or rewind, it doesn't load but goes blackscreen with sounds and my cursor.

Happened in the middle of episode 3, I searched a little bit and the only episode I can still play is episode 1, the other ones goes to the blackscreen when I try to load or continue or just start.

Actually I figured it out. I hit rewind and went to the previous chapter in the episode and everything worked from there. Had to replay a part of it, but thankfully not too much.

As for me, even the rewind is not working...

Where did you buy the game?
Are you playing on PC or Mac?

It's possible that your issue is caused by having multiple prefs.prop files, which sometimes happens for unknown reasons.
There should be only one prefs.prop, and that's in the savegame folder:
    Win Vista/7: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
    XP: %userprofile%\My Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\

Please check if there are additional prefs.prop files in the install folder
    (e.g. \Steam\SteamApps\common\the walking dead)
    or its subfolders.
If so, make a backup copy of the prefs.prop and delete it from the install folder.

If that doesn't help, make a backup copy of the savegame folder's prefs.prop, and then try copying the install folder prefs.prop to the savegame folder.

Didn't work, I even tried removing the prefs.prop of the savegame folder to just have the install folder but then I got an error when trying to continue the game. As for now, both the install and the savegame folder's prefs.prop are the same.

The prefs.prop should not exist in the install folder or any of its subfolders, only in the savegame folder.

If that doesn't work, you can try the "restore previous version" feature on the savegame folder (right click, "properties", "restore previous version"), if available.

Seems like my save was corrupted, I deleted it and it worked afterwards.
