Psychonauts: 360 Controller

I hope you don't mind me posting this here, it's just that this forum is more active than Double Fine's official one and I'd like an answer ASAP, because the keyboard and mouse combo is kind of awkard to play the game. :) I figured a lot of people here would have played Psychonauts anyway.

Alright, here's the deal. A couple of days ago I got Psychonauts for my PC, and I have also recently purchased a Xbox 360 controller for my PC (mainly for Psychonauts), but to my dismay you cannot map the triggers in Psychonauts to what you want.

I was reading this thread over at Double Fine's forum, and someone has posted links to 'XBCD drivers', but sadly these do not work on my controller, due to it being wireless. Mayor McCheese has said that they hope to remedy the trigger problem in the future, but this was posted at the end of August last year and the future isn't looking bright - plus I kind of need a fix now (man, that sounds so impatient :D).

So: does anyone know what I can do to fix my problem? Perhaps some drivers I can download, or some other solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this is any use, but have you tried Joy2Key? http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm

I don't think that's suitable, but thanks anyway.

I know that was the program that was suggested to be used to get the 360 controller to work for Ciy of Heroes. I tied to find the thread but either my Search-Fu was weak or the thread got purged in the recent Forum Maintence. :/

I've found a fix! Simply download this program (30 day free trial), map your controls and play. It only costs $19.95 to buy the program, so I think I might do that... :)

I have had great success with a free application called XPadder. It allows you to map the buttons to any key you want, and can map the analog joysticks to joystick and mouse axis.

It can be found here: http://www.xpadder.com/
Just click on the download link on the left-hand navigation bar.

I first started using it over a year ago... funny thing is, I used it specifically to map the controls for Psychonauts. Small world.

*edit* by the way, I used this with my wireless 360 controller

I did try that, but for some reason it wasn't happy with my computer and the program just loaded as a white box, and sometimes froze.

Hmm... interesting. It worked on both XP and Vista for me, so I don't know what may have been the problem. It will open up blank sometimes if the controller isn't connected.

Anyway, at least you found a program that works for you.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. :)
