Can't play any TT games on my PC

I bought Walking Dead as well as Tales From Monkey Island and none of them load. I have tried them within Steam as well as the individual executables. When I try to start one, I get the working icon for just a second, and then nothing. Same thing with all of them.

The games are not officially supported on Windows 8.
They both crash because of DirectInput issues, which should not occur if you disconnect your XBOX360 controller before starting the games.

You won't be able to control the games with it then though.
There are workarounds mentioned in this forum somewhere, which work by placing a specific version of DINPUT8.dll in the games install folder.
