It would, but I think Telltale has to remodel the places a lot to the point it isn't recongizeable so as to get in trouble by La. The deforesation idea works since I can imagine the location of Conroy's mansion being surrounded by tree stumps and actual mansion being up on a tree or scattered around the lot because of the redwoods.
I do think we see the dinosaur theme park in one of the S&M cartoon episodes.
I don't know if we'll ever be visiting any locations from Hit the Road. What would be the point, other than some cheap nostalgia? I can imagine Sam & Max going back to previous locations from within a season, since that's still all sort of part of the same big adventure, but why visit a location from fifteen years ago?

Maybe because Sam and Max are honorally bigfoots, they go to the annual Bigfoot parties.
I wouldnt see any reason to visit old tourist traps..when you havent got that storyline.. I still think theres another bigfoot story that could be told though

Clearly you've never gone back to your elementary school, sat on the steps all lonely like, and spontaneously burst into tears, overwhelmed by the nostalgia.
Err - yeah.
I can see the amusement factor in going back to a Hit the Road location (I enjoyed going back to "old" locations in games like King's Quest or Police Quest or -- more recently -- Dreamfall, and seeing how they'd changed), but because LucasArts owns the rights to Hit the Road and we don't, I'm not holding my breath. But it might be fun in Season Three or Four, to go back to one of the Season One locations, just for kicks... like the Mafia Free Playland and Casino, which has been converted into a soup kitchen, or something...
yes, more likely a Season 1 Location other then Hit the Road and i hope
Mafia Casino isn't turned into a Soup Kitchen, i hope it's turned into a Courthouse run by men in Bear Suits
..or at least badly damaged. i thought of that as well. so it might be interesting to actually go there..on the other hand: the soda poppers could still be around. they where probably sentenced to rebuild the place in a war crime trial.
A visit to Mt. Rushmore where there's a giant stone head of Abraham Lincoln? That might be... weird.
Maybe Sybil and Lincoln could go there on vacation. Lincoln could claim the other Lincoln as his long lost brother. And Lincoln2 would be torn between returning with his brother or staying with Washington, Jefferson, and that other guy...

And yet you guys had Sam & Max revisit the moon a second time.
And yet you guys had Sam & Max revisit the moon a second time.
True. It was a pretty different take on the moon than the one in the comics... This thread seems to be asking for Sam & Max to return specifically to "Bumpusville," or to "The Mount Rushmore Dino-Park," or to "The World's Largest Ball of Twine," versus "a tourist trap." Just my opinion, though. I wouldn't be pissed or something if Sam & Max went back to an old location - for instance, I would actually be pretty pleased if a Stuckey's/Snuckey's made it in - but there would have to be a damn good reason to do so. Just setting things in a location from 1993 for the sole reason of seeing an old location again would be sad. I would make the argument of setting something in a classic location for the sake of convenience, but in the case of a location from HTR, it would be a huge amount of work to faithfully re-create it in 3D, and then how good a job we did on that particular facet would be all anyone on the forums would talk about anyway!
This is ridiculous, there is no need to go back to those places (except for Mount Rushmore, or what's left of it).
If nostalgia is what the crowd wants, add "only a few more" references to HTR, to please them. If they still crave for more nostalgia, there is always the possibility of dusting off those old floppies and fire up HTR on that long forgotten 486.
Personally, I think the designers are doing a great job of tipping the hat to Hit the Road and the rest of Sam & Max's past when appropriate, but by and large sticking more to the tone while keeping the specific ideas fresh.
Also, for what it's worth, my posts in this thread are Just One Guy's Opinion, and really have nothing at all to do with what's actually going on in the design team's heads. (Before anyone reads too much into anything I'm posting.)
well it could be argued the new games follow the comics more closely than hit the road.. I have no desire to see the old htr locations but I still think theres another sasquatch story that could be told
I wouldn't mind seeing places or characters from Hit the Road in an upcoming season, but I won't be upset if it doesn't happen. If I'm feeling particularly nostalgic I just pop in my Hit the Road CD and play the game on ScummVM.
Personally, I don't care if Sam and Max ever revisits an old location in HTR since as Jake said, most of those locations are tourist areas with the eception of Snuckys. Just be neat to see a brief comeo of an old scene that is has been destroyed by redwood trees.
As for the moon, it is a bit different since Telltale didn't depend on the previous moon story for the season 1, ep 6 game. I mean, we didn't see giant cockaroaches and rats on the moon. Telltale also didn't make a lot of references of Sam and Max being on the moon before, which is a good thing. If is was a fangame, I would imagine the episode would be filled with obscure references about the the other moon story and the moon scenes would probably be filled with giant roaches.
I tend to think games with rehash locations is nothing but fanfare. I mean, the King's Quest 9 fangame seems to rehash the entire islands of the crown from Kq6. Judging from the screenshots, it seems a bit redundant to how the old obscure Kq6 characters in there, as if the design team wanted to try very hard to make their game "official" by cramming everything Kq6 into their game.
It is like those license games that are based on television or an older game such as the Simpsons, Family Guy, and Leisure Suit Larry. In Leisure Suit Larry MCL, there are tons of obscure references that link it to the older games like PC hammer's memorial building and the original Larry rambling on about his past adventures.
In a way "Stinky's" was from HTR only it was called "Really Bad Food". Though I would enjoy seeing another Bernard look-a-like with a mustache or beard like in Snucky's.
I haven't read the comics (yet...), but I felt a huge moment of nostalgia when Flint Paper showed up in 201. I always loved the scene on the landing from the beginning of Hit the Road.
And I only recently realised that the store next door to the office in HTR is called Bosco's. It's redecorated and moved, but the same store.

All I know is the Giant Ball of Twine with the rotating sushi restaurant on top was probably one of my favorite places in all games all time.
It'd be nice if maybe they just mentioned it in the game at some point, or had another virtual reality section of the game take place in one of those areas. Perhaps the COPS could have you do a minigame taking place in one of the areas.
Sounds like I'm alone in this, but after playing HTR and seeing that one episode of the cartoon show, I'm done with bigfoots.
You aren't. After seeing that Bigfoot ep, I am done with bigfoots as well. Although, the episode had a loose connection to HTR, it didn't seem satisfying to see the bigfoot agains. Probably because the episode was aimed for kids. regardless, I felt the episode didn'tlive up to HTR
He sure did, though I'd imagined the story was toned down and altered greatly to meet the standards of the network executives, as well as to make it fit with the personlities of cartoon Sam and Max.
I mean, if it were the telltale version of Sam and Max, Max would probably make some joke about eating the child first or be reluctant in returning the kid back.

(I assume)
Just what I wanted to know! They're planning more seasons!!!:D

To pick out an example, have you seen how well Smash Bros is selling? Nostalgia sells!
So does porn but you don't see that in the game either.
they haven't gotten to the hot coffee dialog tree yet
And maybe have Washington have a voice like James Earl Jones.
Ironically that's the one dialog tree that dims out once you've listened to all available options.
Well, I'm one of the people who played Hit the Road before Season 1.

Ever try going inside?
