TWD Episode 3 download issue

Hello,

Problem downloading Episode 3 here. When I click "Get" I get an error message stating that I have to be connected to the internet to use that feature. The problem is I AM connected to the internet. In addition, when I clicked "Get" for Episode 4 it began to download immediately. I'm not sure how I'll be able to download Episode 3 at this point.

Any tips/helpful comments would be greatly appreciated!

Do you get the error message immediately after clicking on "get", or does it start showing percentages first?

Are you playing on Mac or PC?

Further, please follow the instructions to run the Support Tool and attach the resulting "support_data.zip" to your next reply in this thread.

The tool couldn't find the install location.

What is the install location of the game?
    Where did you buy it?

    EDIT
I just updated the support tool to make it more useful for this issue. Please download and run it again.

You seem to be missing two patches. They are normally loaded automatically at startup of TWD, so i don't know why that is.
There are also unfinished files in the Temp folder.

Please make sure that the game is not running in the background.

Then I suggest you delete the patches, temp files and json files by executing this command line in a Terminal (copy it all in one line):

    rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Telltale\ Games/TheWalkingDead/SyncFs/Temp/* || rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Telltale\ Games/TheWalkingDead/SyncFs/Meta/* || rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Telltale\ Games/TheWalkingDead/SyncFs/Data/WalkingDead101PatchFs/*

If it doesn't work, please post the new support tool data.

:( I'm sorry. Can you put that in stupid person terms? I have no idea what any of that means or how to put that in a terminal.

I made a simple one click solution to clean the SyncFS files. Just download it and start the file SyncFS_Cleanup.sh.command.

Now start The Walkind Dead again. It should take some more time to start, because it has to download the patches.
Then try if you can download Episode 3.

If you can't download it, use the support tool again, so i can see if the patches are still not there or it's something different.

Great! I was able to download episode 3 perfectly!

My brother and I share the game at home, but he's on a PC. Will he have the same issues downloading? Or will he have to get that far before we know?

    I am glad it worked.
I suggest you just download all episodes on the PC before he continues playing. Then you know if there's any download problems.

I am having the same problem on my Mac. I recently downloaded the game & finished episode 1. every time I attempt to download the other episodes it says I need an internet connection, which I have.. I receive this message immediately; the download never starts & I never see a percentage.

After reading this feed I downloaded the Support Tool & followed the steps to get a "support_data_mac.zip" to attach to this post but that also did not work..

You can upload the support_data_mac.zip to an instant filehoster and post the download link.

That's odd. Did any files appear, or did it show any error messages?

the terminal says "Zipping data to support_data_mac.zip
zip warning: first full name: /Users/Miranda/Library/Application Support/Telltale Games/TheWalkingDead/SyncFs/Meta/WalkingDead101PatchFs.json
    second full name: /Users/Miranda/Library/Application Support/telltale games/thewalkingdead/SyncFs/Meta/WalkingDead101PatchFs.json
name in zip file repeated: WalkingDead101PatchFs.json
this may be a result of using -j

zip error: Invalid command arguments (cannot repeat names in zip file)

I see the problem. You have two savegame folders, which is a situation that the support tool can't handle.

At that stage the "data.txt" should have been created though, so please upload it.

Thanks. I don't see anything unusual in there, and that's probably not something i can help with.

There's a possibility that the second savegame folder does something weird to the game though, so please try renaming the "thewalkingdead" folder in
    /Users/Miranda/Library/Application Support/telltale games/
to "thewalkingdead_off" to make sure the game doesn't find it.

If that doesn't fix the problem it's best if you write to support@telltalegames.com

done! but now it says "coming soon" & has no option for downloading the episodes at all.. hahaha

That's odd. I didn't expect the game to use that folder at all, because there are recent savegames in the other one.

Let's try some more, and also disable "TheWalkingDead" in
    /Users/Miranda/Library/Application Support/Telltale Games/
    by renaming it to "TheWalkingDead_off"

It will create a new savegame folder and you won't see your savegames temporarily.
Then try if the download works.

just kidding, i had the wrong file turned "_off".. it was the one with saved games instead of the one without. anywho, i deleted the folder with no saved games & that brought the download option back. still, i receive a message telling me that i need internet connection.

Can you please navigate to your Application Support folder (/Users/Miranda/Library/Application Support) and then take a screenshot that shows the contents of this folder? This screenshot should include both folders named 'Telltale Games'.

Also, have you moved or renamed this folder at any time? When you downloaded the DLC episodes of Walking Dead, did they all download and install normally through the in-game content menu?

Turns out I introduced a bug in the support tool recently, assuming Mac file systems were case sensitive as other unixes.
So basically there never were two savegame folders. Sorry about that.

Sadly I don't know how to fix the connection issue though.
