Black Screen and Cursor, Save Problem

I'm playing on a mac. Everything was going fine till yesterday. I resumed playing from my latest save in chapter 3 of Episode 3 and finished playing in Episode 4 when you decide whether or not to take Clementine to Crawford. Multiple times throughout the day I had closed my laptop to move around and then reopened it to continue playing.

The next day when I tried to continue from episode 4 I noticed my save still said Episode 3. Whenever I try to continue the game it warns me about rewinding, no matter where I try to continue from. Whether I click yes or no, the screen goes black and then the warning pops up again. Answering yes or no once more again makes no difference and I get the black screen and cursor problem.

I could use some help with this, I'd really rather not have to play all the way through chapters 1-3 again.

I attached that mac_support_data file.

You have multiple active prefs.prop files.
Please try renaming the prefs.prop in the steam folder to prefs.prop.bak

Alright, sweet. Can you tell me how to reach those files in order to change their name?
I can get to Users/Tatch/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/The Walking Dead/TheWalkingDead.app but I can't go any further. I'm not a very tech savvy person.

You can right-click (or CTRL-click) on TheWalkingDead.app and select "Show package contents" to continue browsing the folders.

Hello there. I've been having the exact same problem with this game on my Mac as well. I've followed these steps up to the right clicking and selecting "show package contents", and am not sure where to go from there.

The best solution depends on where the prefs.prop files are located and which ones are the latest or biggest.

It's best if you follow the instructions to run the Support Tool and attach the resulting "support_data_(pc|mac).zip" to your next reply in this thread.

Then i can tell you what to do in your specific case.

You have 2 prefs.prop files as well.
Once you have opened the TheWalkingDead.app package navigate further to
    TheWalkingDead.app/Contents/Resources/Pack/default/
and rename the prefs.prop to prefs.prop.orig

I don't know what exactly causes it, so i don't really know how to prevent it.
